Conventional wisdom is that heavy turnout would favor Coakley because of the overwhelming Democrat voter ID in that state, so I don't think heavy turnout is good for Brown, overall.

The answer to that is, polling shows Coakley only holding 80% of democrat votes (an amazing low figure), and Independents going 2-1 for Brown.

A heavy turnout in a typical Massachusetts election may bode well for a democrat. This isn't a typical Massachusetts election. The heavy turnout is a product of massive enthusiasm which is on Brown's side.

01/19/2010:

A day may come when the courage of men fails,
when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship,
BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY!

An hour of wolves and shattered shields,
when the age of men comes crashing down,
BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY!

THIS DAY WE FIGHT!

By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you
STAND, MEN OF THE WEST!

--- GO, SCOTT BROWN!!! ---

Still up with 72 percent. I wouldn't worry about it unless Brown doesn't do a good job of getting all his voters out to the polls.

Shenanigans in Medford already. Poll worker at the Andrews School told voter that he had to declare a party before he could get a ballot. Isn’t that only for the primaries??? Sounds like the Dem machine at work..

If ya got 'em, bring your camcorders to the polls.

Listening to a radio report on the way into work this morning. Reporter on the ground saying he was in a heavily ‘democrat’ district with long line at the local poll. He questioned many of them and most said that they are Democrats, but are ‘reluctantly’ voting for Brown.

Don’t you think that is the idea here, to prevent independents from voting?

Most assuredly I think that's the idea... At the very LEAST :)

The key is independent turnout and they constitute over half of the voters. There aren't enough Republicans to get a GOP candidate elected dogcatcher in Massachusetts.

I was thinking about that just the other day, but my thought was that God has perfect irony. Maybe Kennedy rolling over in his grave started all these quakes. :)

Just wondering - has Brown stated if he has taken any precautions to help stop any voter fraud from the MAO-bama/ACORN/SEIU communists?

I’ll have you on my mind as I crack a Sam Adams later this evening.

I wonder if there’s a way to see if there’s a nation wide spike in Sam Adams sales today..

I saw on one site - may have been RedState.com, there was a link to raise money for legal challenges. There is at least awareness of what may transpire if this is closer than we’d like.

The Brown campaign has poll watchers all over the state and a full battery of lawyers to safeguard any any Democrat fraud and cheating.

Apparently the patriotic, revolutionary spirit still lives on in the state where the first American Revolution began.

Maybe there is hope for our republic.

Scott Brown voters, who may be more willing to answer a pollster’s phone call after having been besieged by calls from both campaigns over the past several days

Highly speculative! I'm an enthusiastic Brown voter and I've just been letting all calls go to voicemail. My sister (likewise) finally did that after answering every time but explaining she didn't respond to political calls or polls.
