Went to my voting location in Tewksbury, MA at 7:00 a.m. and there were 100 people in line. I never saw this even in Nov 2008 and there were Brown signs all over the place. This town went 55-45 for McCain in 2008, Brown should win 65-35 here. I did not see a Coakley sign anywhere in town...this is going to be a Brown-out !

My dad was a professor at U.Mass, Boston. He came home one day(1972), and said that he and one other professor in the English Department, were the only ones who weren’t Marxists.

"Conventional wisdom is that heavy turnout would favor Coakley because of the overwhelming Democrat voter ID in that state, so I don't think heavy turnout is good for Brown, overall."

It may be that since, historically, there has been virtually no chance to elect anyone other than a dem that many have stayed home. So I'm not sure that heavy turnout necessarily favors Coakley. It may be that many voters feel their vote actually has a chance today to make a difference...

Hope the ‘rats aren’t stealing this one as the turnout numbers may indicate.

I normally drink Sam Adams but for tonight, I have a very expensive bottle of champagne chilling. I don’t normally drink the expensive stuff and last time I plunked over $50 for a bottle of champagne was for the 2000 election when Bush won his first term. Unfortunately I had to delay popping that cork for over a month but it did taste sweet when I finally did. I’m fully expecting to pop tonight’s cork around 8:15PM!

hhmmmm...not sure if that’s a Mass law- but in Florida we just get a ballot. I can’t imagine having to declare a party- what if they’re independent or not registered with a party...

Poll worker at the Andrews School told voter that he had to declare a party

Well the DA sure as heck isn't going to help us. Now the question is if the police union meant it when the endorsed Scott Brown.

Voted in Stoneham (next town over from Wakefield where Brown grew up) there were probably 40+ people waiting in line - they opened the polls a few minutes before 7:00 - I voted and was out of there driving away at 7:03 - and that was after standing in line...no one holding signs when I first got there - as I left there was one guy holding a Brown sign. No Coakley signs. It is now snowing steadily....

“what if they’re independent or not registered with a party”

Don’t you think that is the idea here, to prevent independents from voting?
