Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) apologized today for referring to President Barack Obama as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect" in private conversations during the 2008 presidential campaign.
"I deeply regret using such a poor choice of words," said Reid in a statement. "I sincerely apologize for offending any and all Americans, especially African Americans for my improper comments."
The Senate Majority Leader was officially neutral in the primary fight between Obama and then Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.). Reid's remarks about Obama were revealed in "Game Change", a book detailing the 2008 race penned by Time's Mark Halperin and New York magazine's John Heilemann.
Reid's apology comes on the same day that a new poll conducted by the Las Vegas Review Journal showed him facing an uphill fight for re-election in 2010. Reid trailed former state Republican party chairwoman Sue Lowden by a 50 percent to 40 percent margin and was behind businessman Danny Tarkanian (R) 49 percent to 41 percent.
Only one in three voters viewed Reid favorably while 52 percent saw him in an unfavorable light in the poll.

I would suggest to the Republicans to inform the American people quite loudly of the Democrats plan that is the current incumbents plan on pushing a massive socialist agenda then those that are unable to win their campaigns will bail out and let a more supposed moderate member run for their election.
Its time to Paint every Socialist that voted for Govt Healthcare Takeover and Govt Stimulus payoffs as no different then any of their Counterparts. All the Rats are the same it is blatantly obvious they are rubber stamping Obama’s Bankruptcy of America agenda.
I wonder what Obama promised Ried to get him to say this.

Obama in ‘02: ‘The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott’
Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D-13th), who hosted WVON’s Cliff Kelley Show, challenged the Republican Party to repudiate Lott’s remarks and to call for his resignation as senate leader.
“It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate (Lott) suggesting we had been better off if we had followed a segregationist path in this country after all of the battles and fights for civil rights and all the work that we still have to do,” said Obama.
He said: “The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party.”
You got to wonder why people keep voting for these patronizing, corrupt, power-hungry, overbearing collectivist fools.
I’m sure it would go ‘real’ well - for a Republican who made these sorts of moronic remarks
The funny thing is that if he had said the exact opposite, he would have to appologize for that, too.
Par for the course from the same party that gave you slavery and Jim Crow laws!
Doesn’t that describe most of them sans the favorable media coverage?
Pretty much - I’m sitting here racking my brains trying to think of one that is “not that bad” and coming up empty.
adversity?........ or PERversity?
If Reid were a Republican:
“Sen. Reid, we’re not sure what you mean by speaking with a ‘Negro dialect’. Could you give us a sample of what you mean by that?”
“Sen. Reid, do you think using a word like ‘macaca’ has no place coming from a U.S. Senator? And yet ‘Negro dialect’ does? Why is that?”
Obama is a biracial man who was raised by his white grandparents.
IIRC, Chris Dodd made remarks about “Sheets” Byrd, similar to those that Trent Lott made about Strom Thurmond at his 100th birthday party. Lott’s remarks had absolutely NOTHING to do with racism; any racisim was inferred by his critics. However, he was forced to give up his position as Majority Leader, and attempts were made to force his resignation. Dodd? Nary a peep. The difference? Lott has an “R” after his name; Dodd, a “D”.
Al Sharpton has already forgiven him and is lavishly praising him and saying this should be forgotten.
Well good thing he didn’t say something racist like Maccaca!
“What exactly is a negro diallect.” Why you bes askin?
Yes, he does have the dialect. It comes out when he needs it when he is speaking to blacks.
this is freakin hilarious to me...Not the statement..but the liberals’ reactions. Just yesterday among the Liberal websites this book was a hit - you know because of Schmitty’s story about Palin saying O’biden. Different tune today on those same webpages. HAHAAAA HAHHHHHHHHHHH
