Remember the Danish cartoons? A 27-year old Somali does:
Danish police on Friday shot and wounded a man trying to enter the home of an artist who drew controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.
The man, a 27-year-old Somalian who was armed with an axe, was caught trying to break into the home of Kurt Westergaard at 10pm local time, police said.

Mr Westergaard's cartoon was seen at the time as the most controversial, as it depicted the Prophet with a bomb in his turban.
"Controversial" but entirely vindicated by events since. To return to the theme of my post a couple of days back, a significant percentage of Muslims in the west do not understand concepts such as pluralism and freedom of expression. A further percentage understand them very well but reject them as loser fetishes incompatible with the requirements of Islamic supremacism - and have a shrewd sense that when, push comes to shove, a lot of these fine liberal concepts crumble to nothing. Is the percentage of Muslims who support Mr Westergaard's right to free expression and the broader principles of intellectual liberty sufficient to make the importation of legions of "27-year old Somalians" a net benefit to Denmark?
The answer to that seems obvious. But Mr Westergaard is 74, and I'll bet his half-century-younger attacker grasps however crudely the demographic symbolism, in Scandinavia and beyond.

Yep, hollow, weak and cowardly, the beliefs of liberals when faced with the iron will of islamist fascism. It takes the remainder of the population in the West, those who still believe and practice an orthodox faith (judaism, christianity, etc.) at odds with mohammedism, and to face it straight on as the enemy it is and defeat as we’ve done in the past. A backbone can be a hard thing to muster, but when faced with survival, it’s amazing how many appear out of nowhere. More importantly, the muslims only understand one thing historically, raw power and to defeat them is to slaughter them and place your foot firmly on their neck. Corral them back where they belong and do not allow them to emigrate anywhere in the West, if you want to stay free, maintain your own culture and faith and pass them on to your children and grandchildren. Hell, what else is there to live for?

The Leftist liberals have imposed their "death wish" on what were conservative populations in western nations. The white western world used to have a very cohesive sense of religious, cultural and racial identity. In order to breakdown and take over western societies the Leftist, Then Marxist liberals have managed to strip western nations of their identities by labeling any public or government affirmation or support of the western cultural heritage as racist. ("Diversity" and "multiculturalism" are only for the white western world you see.)
The complete lack of alternatives in dealing with Islam - through their declaration of none, as well as the pathetic results of imagining that “moderate” Islam exists - seems to indicate a global war to the death: winner take all, loser is exterminated; is bound to happen, sooner or later.
Of course, if the global banking system cut them off, and if the socialist/communist countries refused to arm them, and if the fetter were taken off of the ROE in fighting them in the ME, then that final conflict would be greatly reduced in bloodshed, and simple deportation of all Muslims could be achieved from around the world back to their original abodes.
But I don’t see that happening.

The best way to do that is to give them a **thoroughly** Christian or Jewish education in the home or in a church school!
The **worst** way to do this ( and the Marxists understand this very well) is to send them into the atheistic government indoctrination camps ( oops! “schools”).

You would think a progressive country like Dernmark would have better ax-control laws.
Or put off indefinitely. They are, as a group, very cowardly. With few exceptions they choose to attack the most vulnerable with suicide bombs, etc. They know when they are out gunned and when the odds are turned against them by a fair match up they turn and flee.
They are feeling their oats right now, but when a significant price is extracted from them for the evil they do in the name of their god they will be much less of a threat. Then, when the world has pretty much forgotten about the extremists in the ROP, they'll be back.

The important thing to remember when dealing with them is the ONLY thing they understand and respect is being the target of a freshly opened can of whoop-ass. They hate you, but they won't mess with you. Like so many of history's trouble makers, the best way to handle them is with overpowering force. They take anything else as a sign from their god that they are supposed to start a fight.

I agree with you fundamentally John Drake, but here we have a classic case of how abused the word 'liberal' is these days. In it's proper usage, we would actually be the liberals these days, while the leftists who claim that mantle are in fact totalitarian statists. I think Steyn's point was how islamists use the Wests 'liberal' traditions of tolerance and free expression against us, much the way America's domestic enemies use our Constitution to destroy our traditions and way of life.
Goldstategop, you're quite right about the way we've allowed unfettered immigration of muslims into our societies without any consideration of the fact that their culture is and always will be the mortal enemy of ours. Our lives of relative opulence seems to prevent us from accepting that this is how it's been for nearly fourteen centuries, and that there will never be any reconciliation or peaceful coexistence with them. Their openly stated goal is to conquer and vanquish us, and we in our craveness just won't grasp that simple fact. In the name of tolerance and 'enlightenment,' we are permitting the muslim snake to coil itself around us. Oh how we're going to squeal in anguish when it begins to crush.

There will come a point of civil war in Western countries.
Not at all; I appreciate your exacting candor. I sometimes become less definitive while expounding due to emotional excess, something conservatives normally control, using their brains more readily vs. their immature hearts. Regardless, the snake of islam has been defeated previously throughout history, and although the pain will be intense, the relish of victory for Western civilization will be great, because not only will our enemies from the East be defeated, but hopefully it’s accomplices within our very society will be as well. Long time coming.

If there is a problem in the U.S. with Islam it is **entirely** an immigration issue. We should cease **immediately** allowing Muslims to enter the country for any reason. We should track those with visas and make certain that they leave when it expires.
The best defense against Islam is to have as citizens that are **thoroughly** educated in and fully prepared to defend their faith. The best place for that is in home or private schools. The **worst** possible place is in government schools that by law must be atheistic in their worldview and teach everything viewed through a god-less prism.
