It's official: Americans admire Glenn Beck more than they admire the pope.
This news, at once unsettling and unsurprising, came from the Gallup polling organization on Wednesday. Beck, the new Fox News host who has said President Obama has a "deep-seated hatred for white people" and alternately likens administration officials to Nazis and Marxists, was also more admired by Americans than Billy Graham and Bill Gates, not to mention Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush. In Americans' esteem, Beck only narrowly trailed South Africa's Nelson Mandela, the man who defeated apartheid.
The 45-year-old recovering alcoholic and Mormon convert has become the first true demagogue of the information age. His nightly diet of falsehoods and conspiracies on Fox, and his daily outrages on the radio, have propelled his popularity past even Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity. His method is simple: He goes places where others are forbidden by conscience.
Death panels? Government health insurance for dogs? FEMA concentration camps? An Obama "civilian national security force" like Hitler's SS or Saddam Hussein's Republican Guard? An administration official advocating forced abortions and sterilization agents in drinking water? Beck trafficked in them all in 2009.
He also proposed on his radio show that people should read Hitler's "Mein Kampf" to prepare for Obama's health-care plan -- and that's in addition to the 28 times the Fuhrer made an appearance on Beck's Fox show in 2009. The Anti-Defamation League identified the secret to Beck's success when it noted that he, unlike other prominent right-wing talkers, was willing "to give a platform to the conspiracy theorists and anti-government extremists."

I’ll tell you many reasons why Beck has achieved this recognition. He speaks from the HEART. He’s a man who has been to the well and made his way back. I admire his honesty tremendously. Eyes are the window of the soul. Look at the eyes on these politicians! Ben Nelson’s teeth are like fangs - reminds me of the devil. Not to be petty, but there’s something about Obama’s ears...they would look a little more evil if that had a little more point. Look at Max Baccus’ eyes-not only the eyes of a drunkard but an evildoer. One day I saw him on Cspan and he turned to a young intern and his FACE and his BEHAVIOR-that’s where I got my first whif of him. Glenn has the courage to be one of us, a wonderful family man who hasn’t forgotten his mistakes or his tragic losses. Most REAL Americans can relate to him. Look at who his friends are! I LOVE GLEN BECK and can excuse some of his histrionics because it all comes from his heart. He’s America’s hero. I’ve been listening to him for NINE years and there was a time before politics when he was the funniest man I ever heard. Keep it up Glen - all these folks are praying for you. GLEN for Pres!

I think you may be right about that! So...this here Dana whatsherface man/boy writer is just basically repeating the negative stuff what he has heard and/or read about Beck without even bothering to check sources or whatever. OK..I get it now. I knew kids like that in jr. high. Did the boiled frog at least get a mention?
I don't get this. Dude spent 20 years in prison while his wife took care of business, then he dumped her. My cousin Wayne did that and everyone thinks he's a dirt bag.

It's interesting how the American people honor a communist, yet right behind him honor someone who stands for the exact opposite.

I like the fact that he is being thought of as an Oprah replacement. I think the more exposure his views gets, the easier it will be for Americans to get the true news that the MSM hides from them.
