The expansive asphalt parking lot in Fair Lakes Shopping Center in Fairfax Virginia was full and there wasn't a single Prius in sight. This is SUV territory and the campaign sticker on the back window of one big Ford summed up the mood: a play on the Obama campaign mantra of hope, this one said simply - "Nope".
There are not too many Obama fans in Fairfax but there are hundreds of people prepared to line up for hours in the snow for a chance to meet the one political figure they believe might still be able to rescue the nation from "socialised medicine", "Liberal intellectuals" and "elitist" newspapers like the New York Times.
Sarah Palin's book Going Rogue is the publishing sensation of the moment here.

Who knows? It's three years away. No one had heard of Barack Obama in the late summer of 2004. Yet, he became President four years later.
Conservatives and Republicans would be much better served worrying about 2010. If we can wrest control back from the Dems next year, 2012 may become moot.

I appreciate the fact that Sarah Palin is hammering out several articles a week on the National and international issues along with op eds in major national papers.
You know where Sarah stands and she is driving the counter to Obama’s agendas.
The GOP establishment - including conservative stalwart Limbaugh - picked Romney last year. How did that work out? As difficult as it is for some to admit, the establishment doesn't select the party nominee. The voters do that. Anyone who wants the nomination, has to convince more people to vote for them than vote for the other guys. It's as simple as that.
At this point, three years out, there is no other Republican considering a run that is even worthy of the nomination, IMO.

They look at how she fought and won over the gop establishment in Alaska, an entrenched cabal of corrupt political criminals and big oil executives. If she can beat Exxon she can beat whatever stiff the beltway rinos want to throw up against her.
After that, it just depends on whether the RNC supports her. If the Republican Party wants to win the presidencey, it can. If it would rather wallow than win, it won't. We shall see.
And continued exposure to her folksy mannerisms is, quite frankly, tooth-grindingly irritating.
Outside her true believers, Sarah Palin doesn't really have the makings of a successful presidential candidate.

Lots of negative vibes here. I strongly support Sarah already but you are welcome to be skeptical. I just say that it is early. Hillary is America’s Ex-Wife. That was part of her being divisive. She was associated with Clintonian failures. That was another big part. Sarah’s divisiveness is based on what people have written, not on what she has done. Let her talk about herself over the next couple years. Listen. Then decide. In December 2005 who did not believe that the November 2008 presidential contest would be between Hillary and Rudy?
In the Wall Street Journal/NBC poll released a few days ago, 12/20/09 , pollsters Peter Hart and Bill McInturff asked,

Fourteen percent of respondents say they have very positive feelings toward Palin; 18 percent have somewhat positive feelings; 23 percent are neutral; 14 percent are somewhat negative; and 26 percent are very negative. "
I think it may be just a little bit more than the establishment, figure are not much different than during the president election.

Reagan was only polarizing after he was elected and the libs needed a straw man. Palin is polarizing now.
I would love to see her as POTUS but there are too many who only see her in light of her Couric interview.
So, you prefer an Ivy League intellectual who spouts off $25 words over a woman who speaks just like the rest of us average main street Americans.

I think she could win with Marco Rubio on her ticket. Two true conservatives and diversified at that.
