As the Senate health care debate enters crunch time, the pressure from all sides continued to grow today, with Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., right in the middle.
His spokesman quickly dismissed a report by conservative columnist Michelle Malkin that Nelson was even being threatened with “closure of an air force base,” presumably Offutt Air Force Base, which is south of Omaha and home of U.S. Strategic Command. Malkin also said Nelson has been promised a “bribe bigger than Sen. Landrieu's.”
That's a reference to Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu, a Democrat and one of the last holdouts on the vote to begin the health care debate. The legislation includes a provision to increase Louisiana's Medicaid funds that Landrieu says is worth $300 million.
Nelson spokesman Jake Thompson said both of Malkin's claims about Nelson are false.
“The rumor is not true,” Thompson said. “This misinformation is coming from inside-the-Beltway partisans who only want to derail health care reform.”

Mark talked about it on his show, so the aide's denial is a little late. If Ben caves now, he'll look like he was 'persuaded' Chicago style. Dare I say bribed, or is that too strong a word? :)
So, the Senator will be accepting the bribe and giving in to the blackmail.

Man up, Nelson. Tell us the truth. Is it that “someone” threatened to stop your hospital and close Offut or downsize it? Let us know. Tell the people Obama tried to buy your vote but you are not for sale. Tell the people of your state that Obama is the problem. He wants to save your projects if you only vote to screw everyone in the US. Tell them you voted against it and that they should throw the bum Obama out since he is against them. Tell them to vote in someone who will uphold Nebraska but not at the expense of everyone. Tell them that you are willing to lose your seat to help save America. You will be the hero. You will be the dem (dare I say) rogue who won’t sell his soul. You might lose your seat but many doors will open to you.
Of course, if you want to sell your soul, that’s your business.
Me thinks Nelson’s aid thouist protest too much and too quickly.
Politically Nelson is now toast so now Nelson will be told to vote for ObamaCare with the bribes- his regular pork with additions which happens to include a military base not being ‘downsized’- because he has nothing to lose. I wonder why Landrieu fessed up to her bribe and does not seem to care that she is also toast in her next election?

The entire concept of the BRAC process is that it be insulated from this kind of temporal political bargaining—so that national security is never threatened and that base consolidations and closures make security and fiscal sense.
Can Obamsky and his pet rat Emanuel completely trash this process in order to threaten Nelson and Nebraska?

Dont those base closings have to go through an independent commission that votes every few years and then has to be ratified? Even Guantanamo sp? isnt going to be closed, just no longer a prison. I dont think the Prez can close a base on his own..?

This is just too much! How can public officials be bribed and not be investigated and prosecuted? And when it’s made public? Zero’s justice dept. is just as corrupt as he is, thats how. Now they can screw us and tell us they are doing just that? And no part of the bill they are trying to pass by corruption is constitutional, either. Just paying back the welfare cult that keeps them in power, with our tax dollars, of course!@#%</
Whenever I hear Obama or his henchmen use the word “clear,” I know a lie is soon to follow. “Perfectly clear” means a big whopper.
What ever Nelson does, he is a target for de election. He is done, A goner.
The GOP reps and senators are not fighting on behalf of the people!
They’re just as guilty IMO if this passes.

If the US’s governing officials submit to a “global government” would that not, in itself, be both proof and cause to call them traitors and, quite literally, hang them as such?
Note: A global government would, by definition, dissolve & absorb the United States (rendering it no longer a sovereign nation) and thusly be, for all intents and purposes, destroyed.
THEREFORE, it is intuitively obvious that endorsing a “global government” _IS_ both adhering to and giving aid and comfort to America’s enemies.
