COPENHAGEN Climate guru Al Gore warned UN climate talks Monday that record melting of Polar and Himalayan ice could deprive deprive more than a billion people's access to clean water.
Adding to an avalanche of bad scientific news over the last two years, the former US vice president cited new research showing that the Arctic ice cap may have shrunk to record-low levels last year.
"2008 had a smaller minimum, probably, than 2007," Gore said at the release of a report he co-sponsored with the Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store, called Melting Snow and Ice: A call for Action.
"These figures are fresh, I just got them yesterday," Gore said, alluding to work led by Wieslaw Maslowski of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

It occurred to me I have defenses against this stuff because I used to listen to Long John Nebel and his guests on the radio.
Coast to Coast should do it for you in more recent times.
People can spin very convincing BS, they do it all the time. Especially in the areas of science and science fiction.

Actually the salinity of seawater would be lowered by melting ice caps meaning the water would evaporate at a lower temp creating more rain. This would create, OMG, a greener planet.

but this has nothing to do with the general fresh water supply. ...if anything, warmer temps and rising seas means more evaporation. Which means more precip. Which means more freshwater available globally.
That just my humble opinion. I'm not a professional meteorologist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Just wondering, when Gore finishes talking, does his voice change and he says “this ends Zeta time.”?

The crap this guy says gets whackier by the day.
I started noticing signs of mental problems back in early 2001 after he lost the election. He was always a 51 card deck but after this time he really became nuts. You could see it in the way he spoke. You didn't need to be a professional to tell this guy was losing it.
He is totally obsessed with this whole climate issue. He cannot think straight and he was never much of a thinker to begin with. The man needs serious psychological help.
