Actually the salinity of seawater would be lowered by melting ice caps meaning the water would evaporate at a lower temp creating more rain. This would create, OMG, a greener planet.

possible but if i would live in the netherlands i still would be worried about too much melting ice (1/3 of the country lays below the sea level ;-)
