Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site
12/11/2009 | Jim Robinson

Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.

We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.

We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.

Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.

For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.

And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.

FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.

And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.

Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.

FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.

We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.

Keep your powder dry.

Elsie is discussing doctrine. You are discussing behavior.

He can show doctrine is wrong using Scripture.

You label behavior as wrong based on who knows what.

Just because someone says something you don’t like, doesn’t mean they hate and are intolerant. You’re not perfect either. I’ve seen plenty from you that could be accused of being hateful, like telling people they are demon possessed.

Quit your preaching at and lecturing everyone, fer cryin’ out loud.

"That's the claim you make when YOU tell us how God did it and that we are wrong."

We cannot say: creation or evolution, inasmuch as these two things respond to two different realities. The story of the dust of the earth and the breath of God, which we just heard, does not in fact explain how human persons come to be but rather what they are. It explains their inmost origin and casts light on the project that they are. And, vice versa, the theory of evolution seeks to understand and describe biological developments. But in so doing it cannot explain where the "project" of human persons comes from, nor their inner origin, nor their particular nature. To that extent we are faced here with two complementary -- rather than mutually exclusive -- realities.

While you are at it do a little research on the origins and meanings of the phrase "RC". It is the Irish equivalent of the N-word. It was a derogatory term used on Catholics in part because it a homonym of "arse".

Well, this isn't Ireland and those are just initials for *Roman Catholic*, in case you hadn't noticed.

Whoever made that connection is a little thin skinned.

I am saying that God gave us His Word, so that we may know Him, seek Him.

Neither will I read Charles Darwin and his screed. The Bible is sufficelnt in this.

We are to be as a little child in our belief. What does that mean? It means being as a child and believing in what your ‘parent’ tells you.

We are to walk by Faith, not sight. I care not what construction of remains is used to try to say that man grew out of something less. That is not what God had Moses write, that is not what happened. Faith says man was Created, with a big ‘C’. Animals reproduce ‘after their kind’, not into a new kind. Dogs come from dogs, and will not be a frog, even if you keep them in a pond for millenia.

And non-man animals did not ‘give rise’ to man. Genesis does not say that God created a small primate, and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, this creature mated, grew, changed until it looked sotra like Gods image, and God saw it was good, so here, have a soul.

I've been in quite a few pubs in Ireland where uttering that would get you a broken nose.

Shall I call you a Waaaambulance? I'll use it any way I wish. Your interpretation is your own problem . The post was directed to some AGers and others. It wasn't directed at you.

Take your RC catechism and stuff it. I'll take sola scriptura any day other than the warnings of a bunch of self-proclaimed deniars! If you'd bother to search the Word, you'd find your "church" teaches against the very Word it proclaims. This is not an education thread. It is an opinion commentary started by the owner. Take your RC stuff and pat yourselves in a circle on their daily entreaties...

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. YMMV!

But it is not for us in the flesh to ‘judge’ others in their beliefs. I have Catholic liberal voting in-laws, and then I have a garden variety of Protestants on the other side, most of which also vote democrat.

The Catholic in-laws have been taught that ‘evolution’ is settled science and the so called ‘old’ Testament is allegorical and symbolic. And since their Church is the oldest and has the majority in numbers they are on the ‘right’ side.

Now the Protestants have their own religious hang ups regarding what they have been told about how old this earth literally is. And some of them are anti-wine, and this and that, some even believe they have a ticket out of here when things get real bad.

BUT when all is said and done all of the Heavenly Father's children of whatever belief are going to get to have a one on one face to face accounting, and their only advocate will be Christ. Not a spouse, a parent, a child, or a preacher/priest or some church doctrine. The Heavenly Father created each and every individual soul/spirit.

And that is what this ‘war’ against US comes down to, the ripping up and out that knowledge our founding fathers knew without doubt, that the Heavenly Father is the Creator and He gave US unalienable ‘rights’ that NO man/government can take. And whether these of the evolutionary theory can see or not it is that tail that blinds the mind that removed from our young through public education they are born with God given rights they must learn to protect and defend.

An anti-Catholic post from WVKayaker?

Wow, must be a day ending in "y."

I've got to hand it to you for efficiency: you cram a lot of false statements about Catholics and the Catholic Church into a very small space.

Good thing you're not describing the Catholic Church.

"Take your RC catechism and stuff it."

If that is indicative of your brand of Christianity (and I'm sure it isn't) then I am even happier that I am a Catholic.

Now maybe you can lead us in a chorus of "Up the long ladder and down the short rope, Cheers to King Billy and f*ck the Pope".

Will you also follow the ‘free thinkers’, the ‘great thinkers’ when it is posited that Jesus couldn’t rise again? I mean He was dead. DEAD. Three days. Brain dead, rigored, probably well into decay, wouldn’t you think? I mean, science says so, it explains it so easily. Couldn’t happen. Maybe his bones are in the Vatican? Science says they should be, coould be, would be, cuz dead peopple don’t return to life. Do they?

Now had I included an LDS reference than that would be an opening but my topic was not even related to Elsie rant.

No Catholic great thinker denies the Resurrection. There may be a few CINOs from the latter half of the 20th century who do, but they hardly count as ‘great thinkers’ now do they?

Not yet they don’t. I’m talking about the science of it. You raise up science to discredit Genesis. That opens the door for anyone to use science to discredit the Resuurection.

CINO’s will grow, apologetics will expand, The Saviour will become, ‘just a teacher’, just and ‘example’ of how to live. Afterall, Christians shouldn’t offend with their beliefs, we should try, at all costs to be inclusive.

Right?

Hi Pete, I am perfectly describing your "church". The church is the entire body of believers, and not confined to a bunch of idol worshippers such as yourselves.

I thank God I'm not a Catholic, myself. He brought me out of captivity to men, and into the Grace of His Spirit. I don't have to talk nicely to you, because of "sensitivities". With Pete along, NL, you can rest assured that he will post the same retired and retarded posts trying to boost your POV. Unfortunately, they are more like pissing in the wind...

Beware of the yellow snow!

Not at all, Yak. I'm a Catholic, and what you have posted does not describe the Catholic Church.

I don't have to talk nicely to you...

Of course you don't, Yak. I'm just a Catholic...which also means you don't even need to speak the truth.

Actually, you are right. There are very liberal Catholics who claim just what you said. But there are also a whole heck of a lot of liberal Protestants who also claim the exact same thing. The mistake they makes is the same thing that Biblical literalists and Protestant fundamentalists make: they believe that science and faith are intrinsically opposed to each other and can never, ever be reconciled. It is a falsehood which great Catholic thinkers like our current Pope have strongly, repeatedly repudiated. Science is the one of the means to understanding God’s creation. Not the only means, but definitely one of them. For a religious person to view science as something to be feared and shunned is a gigantic mistake. You are throwing away one of the greatest gifts God has given us.

Matthew 12:... 46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you."

48 He replied to him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

The mistake is focusing on denomination. I refute any attempt to discredit anything in the Bible. If I allow one brick of my Faith to be declared, in effect, a Lie, then where else?

Science is RADICALLY opposed to the Resurrection. By its very nature. My Faith says Jesus rose again.

Science is (Tries to be) RADICALLY opposed to the Creation. My Faith says it is true.

Science says electricity works, gotta love science! But it cannot explain all things. I do not fear science, I work in the nuclear industry, science is the cornerstone there. It does in fact explain many things about this world God has given us.

But, in Faith, Jesus, and His Word are cornerstones. You make the mistake of ‘painting’ someone who refutes evolution with a label of ‘science-fearer’. Not so, at least here.
