Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site

Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.

We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.

We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.

Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.

For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.

And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.

FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.

And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.

Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.

FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.

We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.

Keep your powder dry.

Had you no answers to these questions?

1703 Endowed with “a spiritual and immortal” soul,5 the human person is “the only creature on earth that God has willed for its own sake.”6

The word ‘endowed’, does this described an evolutionary ‘leap’ that gave man something divine? By its very definition, something that is endowed comes from something. We were endowed, at our Creation (not at some point in our evolution) with our spiritual and immortal soul.

So, where in the evolutionary ladder of things did the soul appear? Neanderthal? Ardi? The Lemur? At what point, in your version of Gods evolutionary plan, did man evolve enough to be endowed?

Really, Natural Law, is man divine or just an accident in the giant dice game of the cosmos?

I wonder what Freud would have said about that?

Okay thanks for the clarification. I believe this thread is the first time I have ever encountered Elsie. Still trying to figure out the personality/personalities.

Oh, metmom. Be careful about declaring people “condemned” unless you are specifically talking about being condemned from Free Republic. But I don’t think you are. Sometimes I think you tend to conflate Free Republic with the Kingdom of Heaven. Trust me - the two have nothing to do with each other.

"Really, Natural Law, is man divine or just an accident in the giant dice game of the cosmos?"

What exactly is your question? Do I or the Catholic Church believe in abiogenesis? The answer is a resounding No!. Do I or the Catholic Church believe that man is special and created in God's image with a soul, reason, and free will? The answer is a responding YES! Do I or the Catholic Church believe that God created the sciences and used them to bring forth life and the variety of life and used it to allow life to flourish in a dynamic environment? The answer is yes.

On these things the Church and I have been very clear.

So very true. The fact that the Catholic Church learned from mistakes made centuries ago, and has recognized that science is the study of God’s creation rather than something to be seen as in opposition to the truth - this is what led me to Christianity. I was raised in the Bible Belt surrounded by protestants and until I read the works of the great thinkers of the Church, all I knew of Christianity was sola scriptura and the pushing of ignorance. The fact is that pushing ignorance is contrary to Christianity.

And kudos to you for maintaining your charity in the face of these attacks on our faith. You are a better person than I, to be sure.

Created, yet at the same time evolved from something ‘less’. So, again, where in that evolutionary ladder did that spiritual immortal soul get endowed?

Be careful about declaring people “condemned” unless you are specifically talking about being condemned from Free Republic.

Calling people apostates condemns them, and not from FR either. Follow your own advice.

On these things the Church and I have been very clear. Yes, you have, yet it is contradictory. Evolving is not being created. God is not the author of confusion and describes plainly mans beginning. How do you reconcile Creation vs evolution, when in your chatechism, it describes the 'immortal soul' as endowed? And just how does 'immortality' evolve?

You have to keep pro-evolution people around or you look like you can’t take any dissent or debate. I know it’s a tough call overall though. Liberal hate sites will definitely shut out the pro-creation Christian view from their debate and we would be right in shunning them.

However, you must allow debate here. If it gets out of control with insults and boorish behavior then ban the culprits on either side. But at least let some of the arguments continue.

I’m a conservative, active duty military officer. I have donated money to the site in the past. I am pro-life but not religious at all. Don’t attend church and am fully in the evolution camp. However, I still will read through the evo debates.

I think there’s a big camp of non-religious conservatives that love this site. Please don’t shut us out. Ban us if we misbehave, but don’t censor the debate. Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Good morning, Elsie.

It's good to see you defending the church, as usual. I am continually amazed that so many on this board rely on men in funny clothes, rather the Word they supposedly represent. I'll not understand how they can call a man "father", when Jesus specifically said that was anathema. It's even more amazing that they worship relics and bow to statues, in light of Jesus' sacrifice. They wish to keep Him on the cross, rather than reveal a resurrected Savior, and Lord.

Their whole being is in their "church". Their children are raised on the Catechism, and rote is all they know. The Holy Spirit isn't for the masses, with them, it is reserved to a select group of mad-hatters. They lay up lots of treasure in Rome, in the name of art and posterity, while millions starve, and millions more don't hear the Truth of the Gospel.

Their priests teach them that the only way to God is through baptism and membership on their roles. They love to talk about all the prurient stuff, in the form of "cabinet confessionals", and repeat vain prayers in hopes of getting attention. Lighting a dollar candle supposedly helps get through.

The Roman Catholic Church has a Doctrine which clearly rejects the ability of the Holy Spirit to speak through God's written Word. They must not understand what Jesus said about everything I believe.

I have often compared the upbringing of the RC child as not dissimilar to that of a Islamic child. In Ireland, they even have the bombs to prove it!

I have a pretty good idea about Elsie. There is a distinct love for God and His Word displayed to fight error and cynicism. His church is all of us together. Believe it or not!

Romans 6: 1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. 14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. -NIV

No, metmom. What I said was not so much a condemnation but a simple truth: the founders of Protestant sects were, in fact, apostates. People like yourself, not so much. You were raised in ignorance. However, as an adult, you can make the choice to remain ignorant or to open your mind and your heart.

Evolutionists are routinely purged from FR if they challenge Creationism.

You can tell yourself those lies if the exercise makes you feel better. Nonetheless, the record exists, and we all were witness to the events it reports. By asserting the lies you tell, you may as well slap a very large pulsing neon TROLL on your forehead. Go back and tell your buddies at DU and DC that propaganda and personal attack have no currency with FR.

Whoa there kayaker. Understand your history before spouting such bigotry. There are two sides to the Troubles, and one of them is decidedly (and very violently) Protestant.

“I have often compared the upbringing of the RC child as not dissimilar to that of a Islamic child.”

And one more thing. Muslims are Young Earth Creationists, just like the Protestants like yourself, and teach that science is the enemy of faith, just like Protestants like yourself. Perhaps you should meditate for a while on this fact.

"Created, yet at the same time evolved from something ‘less’."

Are you saying that God was not capable of creating physical processes to bring about His creation? Are you saying that you know HOW God created instead of simply acknowledging THAT He created?

"So, again, where in that evolutionary ladder did that spiritual immortal soul get endowed?"

One or two sentence answers will not do the question or the answer justice. I would encourage you to read "In the Beginning...: A Catholic Understanding of the Story of Creation and the Fall" written by Cardinal Ratzinger (Now Pope Benedict XVI). Excerpts can be found here:

It is fitting you did this Elsie on this thread!

"Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site,"

Just to show how much intolerance FR allows towards the LDS as you and a small group of anti who daily for almost a decade to take out of context and spin as well as to stalk LDS whenever spotted in open forums.

To take delight in deliberately rearrange the meaning of a post just because their faith is LDS.

This kind of indifference is taught in “Rules for Radicals “never let go to waste an opportunity to do harm to an individual who reads the Book of Mormon or is LDS.

The method used on the LDS is no different than the ones as used by the Marxist in "Rules for Radical" Scorch Earth on Rush, Sean, Chaney, and Palin etc.

My post spoke of what a heart of a follower of Jesus Christ towards his fellowman be should they be of any faith towards those who has none because they are still struggling haven’t not yet experience the sweet taste of the Savior.

The Lord is longsuffering and patience with and for all his children in this probationary state on earth that they will fine and chose to return to Him.

Many like to refer to the Hymn” Amazing Grace” but sadly a few lack the same compassion towards those who are still stranded and struggling and show a lack of patience towards, and in some cases contempt for those still stumbling around in the dark.

CLICK Amazing Grace

John 13:

34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

The very nature of mocking, being hurtful, unkind, showing contempt, lacks patience towards those who are non believers, trouble and lost but is that doing the will of the Lord or the will of the natural man when is in this state no different than the one who is lost?

There is a vast different between those who are lost but still have some light to adhere to good principle than those who despised good.

"“I have often compared the upbringing of the RC child.."

While you are at it do a little research on the origins and meanings of the phrase "RC". It is the Irish equivalent of the N-word. It was a derogatory term used on Catholics in part because it a homonym of "arse". I've been in quite a few pubs in Ireland where uttering that would get you a broken nose.
