I'm Dreaming Of A White House Christmas: Michelle Obama Shows off Her Lavish Decorations

03rd December 2009
For most people, a single Christmas tree, a string of lights and some baubles are enough. If you're the Obamas, however, decking the White House halls with boughs of holly was always going to require a little more work - 3,400 man hours to be exact.
The US President and his wife are celebrating the festive season with recycled ornaments, natural materials and, of course, a gingerbread White House.
Spectacular: An 18ft Douglas Fir, is positioned in the centre of the White House's Blue Room
The 390lb work of culinary art is covered in white chocolate and has a marzipan replica of family dog, Bo. 'Reflect, Rejoice, Renew' is the theme for the Obama family's first Christmas in the White House.
Showing off the decorations, Mrs Obama said the theme was chosen because her family spends the holidays reflecting on its blessings, rejoicing in the company of friends and family, and renewing their commitments to each other and causes they believe in.

As usual, Mee-chelle is inappropriate in her sleeveless-ness.
Why to the trees look so spikey?? Very odd...
That red tree in the green room looks bad.
Music: "Black Christmas" by Kanye West, "Hark! Harold is an Angel Singing" by Elton John, "O Bomb All Ye Faithful" by Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn
A lovely dead Tree-American decorated with baby seal corpses and burned SUV parts provided by Earth First!
A Nativity scene of Joseph, Larry and Jesus provided by Kevin Jennings and NAMBLA
An appearance by jolly Khalid al-Klaus and his flying Rein-camels who will hand out suicide bomb-packs to all the little kiddies.
I wonder if she’s going to hang miniature dildoes on the White House Christmas tree like the Clinton people did?
Have they celebrated Jesus Christ by going to church yet?
Or is that still “under study”?
My son had a dead mouse and put it on the tree one year. Wrapped it’s tail around the branch and let it dangle.
It became a family favorite and we use it every year. I think his name is Bud.
Rest assured, they aren't!
False alarm-It's Michelle's garden!
Sure—and I guess obamination was on top of the tree instead of an angel.
I thought this idiot said we’re not a Christian nation? If he feels that way why is he bothering to celebrate the birth of Christ with this gaudy display?
I think you're right.
Why is the First Lady wearing a sleeveless dress in the winter? Was this a formal-atire evening event?
And is there a marzipan replica of Barack in his manger as well?
Did I see a cross on top of the National Christmas tree?
Who’s that dressed in black with white spats bowing down between the staircases?
Thanks for the nice pic.I wonder what’s atop the tree: deosn’t look like a star.
Puts me in the spirit of the season.
Bo?
Two new additions to the gingerbread house this year are Mrs. Obama’s garden, complete with marzipan vegetables, and a cutout that gives viewers a look inside the gingerbread State Dining Room, with a lit chandelier and furniture made of dark chocolate. More than 50,000 people are expected to attend a total of 28 holiday parties and open houses the White House has scheduled this month. The first such event came Tuesday night in the East Room, honouring the volunteer decorators.
“I heard you all partying last night,” Mrs. Obama told about a dozen volunteers who attended the preview. “You had a great time.”
Michelle must have perpetual goosebumps.
