I'm Dreaming Of A White House Christmas: Michelle Obama Shows off Her Lavish Decorations
Mail Foreign Service
03rd December 2009
For most people, a single Christmas tree, a string of lights and some baubles are enough. If you're the Obamas, however, decking the White House halls with boughs of holly was always going to require a little more work - 3,400 man hours to be exact.
The US President and his wife are celebrating the festive season with recycled ornaments, natural materials and, of course, a gingerbread White House.
Spectacular: An 18ft Douglas Fir, is positioned in the centre of the White House's Blue Room
The 390lb work of culinary art is covered in white chocolate and has a marzipan replica of family dog, Bo. 'Reflect, Rejoice, Renew' is the theme for the Obama family's first Christmas in the White House.
Showing off the decorations, Mrs Obama said the theme was chosen because her family spends the holidays reflecting on its blessings, rejoicing in the company of friends and family, and renewing their commitments to each other and causes they believe in.

I don’t know how to post the picture, but that marzipan White House is unreal.
And I can’t believe my eyes: I thought I saw a Nativity scene.
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas too........
This is frankly what I expected. Some people will spend all of their money on trappings, like great clothes, beautiful cars, makeovers etc, and neglect the important things like thrift and modesty, this is the -0-bamas. It would be wonderful if they spent their own money decorating, but I am sure it is taxpayer dollars, like everything else they do, it is at the expense of another.

Happy damn festivus. That is if you have a job.
lol!
Amen, brother!
OKAY...y’all DO know that EVERY Christmas the White House is dressed to the nines for Christmas....I don’t think this is really THAT unusual.....EXCEPT that Meechelle can’t seem to find a jacket to wear in winter.
I agree with you.
No big deal. A number of our ornaments are "hand-me-downs" -- they're older than I am.
She doesn’t seem to have any trouble finding belts though. Queer.
What? No devil’s food cake in the shape of a hammer and sickle?
Funny how the ADL and the ACLU doesn’t go after the White House and Congress for having Christmas Trees and Nativity Scenes!!
I am thinking that a 400 lb gingerbread house is a bit spendy, and this year people are actually hurting in the pocketbooks. I guess we just can eat cake....although not the inedible one I saw on the site.
I see Michelle is still taking style tips from Larry the Cable Guy.

‘Reflect, Rejoice, Renew’
Relax, Refresh, Refuel.
