Obama climate czar Carol Browner on Wednesday rejected the e-mails that appear to show some British climate scientists trumped up global warming numbers, saying she considers the science settled.
"I'm sticking with the 2,500 scientists. These people have been studying this issue for a very long time and agree this problem is real," said Ms. Browner, who President Obama has tapped as his chief of policy on global warming.
The e-mails were hacked from the Climate Research Unit at the University of Wast Anglia and have come to light over the last week. They appear to show scientists saying they've smoothed over data that doesn't back up their claims of warming, and pondering how to freeze out scientists who disagree with them.
Release of the e-mails has fueled skeptics ahead of next month's major global warming meeting in Copenhagen, which is supposed to set the framework for a new global treaty to restrict greenhouse gas emissions.
The White House said Wednesday that Mr. Obama will personally travel to Copenhagen to commit the U.S. to greenhouse gas reductions.
But the data remains a point of debate, with skeptics pointing to several data sets that show the last few years have actually seen a cooling effect.
Sen. James Inhofe, Oklahoma Republican, has called for an investigation into the e-mails, and says they confirm his long-held suspicion that climate claims are not supported by the actual data.
Ms. Browner, though, said the only people who still doubt global warming is happening and that humans are to blame are "a very small group of people who continue to say this isn't a real problem, that we don't need to do anything."

Basically here is what happened. Environment science programs have been attracting left wing tree huggers for decades, these left wing ideologues have been purposely manipulating the data they collect to push their environmental agenda.
Is it as simple as that.
Scientists didn't take those data samples, green peace did.

“Update: It has become fairly obvious this archive was not “hacked” or “stolen” but rather is a file assembled by CRU staff in preparation for complying with a freedom of information request. Whether it was carelessly left in a publicly accessible portion of the CRU computer system or was “leaked” by staff believing the FOIA request was improperly rejected may never be known but is not really that important. What is important is that:
1.There was no “security breach” at CRU that “stole” these files
2.The files appear genuine and to have been prepared by CRU staff, not edited by malicious hackers
3.The information was accidentally or deliberately released by CRU staff
4.Selection criteria appears to be compliance with an or several FOIA request(s)”
Similar situation to when I stole my then wife’s web e-mail password and hacked into messages when I suspected she was having an affair. . . for the 2nd time. What an awful, awful person I was! But I confirmed what I suspected.
In order to catch despicable liars and cheats, sometimes you have to lie and cheat a little. In the end, my ex turned out to be an adulterer and I finally was able to choose the correct, and informed, course of action. Likewise, we now know the truth about the fraud and criminal enterprise of the climate change industry and we can take an informed, correct course of action. Defeat climate change legislation, drill for oil, issue coal permits, scuttle ethynol subsidies, gut the EPA and Department of Energy, prosecute Al Gore and his climate control conspirators. Nothing short of blood and heads rolling in the street will satisfy me to punish these evil people.

Europe is in a tizzy about this. They are living globull warming crap. The US won’t be able for long to ignore them. They’re in pow-wow’s, spinning and trying to come up with something plausible. Speaking of plausible, I’d love for the Mythbusters to go political.
The only thing Climategate proves is that there are researchers/scientists who are willing pursue their theories even if it means suppressing data that doesn’t support their research, hide their methods from inquiry, and discredit those whose findings disagree with their own.
