If 60 voted to start debate. The same 60 will vote to stop debate. Then the blue Dogs will vote no on the legislation it will pass with 51 votes of safe and secure Senators and we will be stuck with this massive intrusion and destruction of our Freedom.

Personally I don’t even understand how a lot of Liberal people are going to go along with this. What they want is Universal Health Care, Medicare for all but they know they can’t get that so they move towards this but without the base line of medicare reimbursement rates they are all going to be forced to get Insurance policies because this legislation forces every American to PURCHASE insurance so they are screwing themselves and giving a huge pay day to the Insurance Industry who they claim to hate.

Not to mention most Americans don’t want this crap and they are forcing it on us with an upcoming election year that this is going to be hung around their necks as an albatross.

I just don’t get it, it boogles the mind.

I recently had a discussion with a liberal at my job and I said ...

So you guys are going to be perfectly fine putting government in charge of our Healthcare, letting government decide what they will and will not treat etc....

So how are you going to feel When Sarah Palin is President and has all that Power at her disposal?

UTTER SILENCE.... they haven’t thought this through.

correct this isn’;t over

Lets keep a list of those who are up for election and lets us all call.
Not just moan on here or make one or two calls but 20 to 30 calls a day every day until the final vote and remind them that we have not forgot who they are

The Dems are thinking this will all blow over. How wrong they are

You say Govt health care is now a done deal.

Why?

Only someone who has given ion or wants to see others give in would say that

this is not over by a long way, NO WAY IS THIS OVER

Get a list up of every Dem who is up for election next year and keep this list up.
This will not be forgot

Maybe. IMO it’s still a more successful path if the Republican Party comes to it’s collective senses then starting from scratch.

Lieberman reelection funds come from the CT insurance PACs and not the DNC. He will filibuster any bill with a public option in it.

The amnesty bill had sixty votes and was crushed in the debate and never got cloture and died.

So don't give up yet ! These debates are going to get ugly and get alot of media attention and may end up going into 2010 which would be great.

I think Rush mentioned that if bills didn’t die in today’s vote, they had been passing a final vote around 97%. That’s not good. It needed to die today. Healthcare, indeed America, has probably stepped the 2nd foot over the slippery slope with today’s vote.

What if Reid decides to go with just 51 votes?

“There will be another cloture vote to end debate - that vote will be the critical one where we need to convince Lieberman, or one other democrat to vote no.”

Forget it. Don’t try to explain the process. The FR surrender monkeys are in little girl, arm-flapping panic mode and not willing to listen to reason.

Thanks for trying.

All you people who don’t think this is a big deal, read what my senator said yesterday, before today’s vote:

To begin debate on this new version of Obamacare, Reid will play a shell game. He needs 60 senators to “vote to proceed” to an unrelated piece of legislation, and once he clears that hurdle he will strike that bill’s text and insert his new health care bill. But don’t be fooled by senators that will say they oppose a government takeover but just wanted to allow debate on health care, they are not being honest.

The simple fact is this: Any senator that votes to proceed to the Reid-Obama bill is voting for a government takeover of health care.

Why? Because, President Obama and Harry Reid cannot pass a government takeover without clearing 60 vote procedural hurdles in the Senate — but they also know that vulnerable Democrats likely cannot win reelection if they vote for this unpopular bill. So they want all Democrats to stick together on the vote to proceed, then some Democrats will vote against final passage of the bill and claim they tried to stop it.

Senators who say they just want to allow for debate are trying to deceive their voters while giving President Obama the crucial votes he needs to pass a government takeover of health care.

Voters should be watching and remember who stands up for their freedom and who stands with the special interests who want to ram through this takeover.

Democrats have now offered five different versions of Obamacare (the first House bill, the second House bill, the Senate Finance bill, the Senate HELP bill, and now Reid’s bill). And despite the nuances, every Democrat bill we’ve seen puts Washington in control of health care, slashes Medicare coverage for seniors, raises premiums for families, raises taxes, places bureaucrats between patients and doctors, punishes young adults who choose not to buy coverage, and opens the door to government rationing of care.

We know the Reid plan will be more of the same and cannot be fixed by a few amendments on the Senate floor. The attempt to give Washington control over one-sixth of our economy is rotten to its core. And any improvements made to the bill will be a mirage that will vanish as soon as the bill goes behind closed doors in conference with the Pelosi bill.

Americans have loudly and repeatedly rejected the president’s government takeover of health care. It’s time to for the Senate to listen, stop the shell games, and start over with real solutions that will provide every American the opportunity to afford, own and keep a health care plan that best meets their needs. To that end, I introduced the Health Care Freedom Plan earlier this year. It would give Americans hundreds of health plan options through interstate competition, create fair tax treatment for those who don’t get their insurance from an employer, and provides real tort reform to stop frivolous lawsuits.

We can have a real debate about common sense solutions, but only if we first stop this government takeover. And we can stop this bill if we don’t let Democrats try to have it both ways.

Don’t let them vote for a government takeover of health care before they vote against it. The “vote to proceed” to Obamacare may be one of the most important votes any Senator takes. Make sure your senator knows you are watching.

Jim DeMint

“Take it to the streets! Massive Civil Disobedience. Thats the democrat tactic. Time to use it against them. red”

I’m with you, but I think today’s American is more comfortable with wondering what talk show hosts, news anchors and commentators are going to do to save them.

They’re too cowardly to call the enemy what it is: Communism. Or, too brainwashed to put pressure on whatever beloved political party they belong to. Because, you know, those Republicans are working SO HARD for us—B_LLSH_T! They’re looking out for the their own *sses, and that’s all the bulk of them are doing.

Americans should indeed be in the streets. But, perhaps, they think it won’t be that bad. Maybe they believe someone else somewhere will bear the brunt of the destruction.

They cannot connect the dots. It takes a bit of imagination, I guess, to look down the road a bit, post socialized medicine, and see what life is like then.

Is it that difficult? Can you imagine the consequences of handing THE CARE OF YOUR BODY to politicians? HELLO!?

Will one of the nice-guy conservatives, one of the “It can’t happen here.” folks, please tell me what rights will matter after the government becomes, in effect, the owner of our bodies?

This is checkmate. If they pass this, you can forget about a future that includes freedom to determine your own destiny. It will be gone for your children as well. It will be gone for every American.

Then, it won’t be just people like me who are sensitive to this type of thing that see it, and suffer it, but you all will bear the burden of watching as your freedoms are stolen, your country’s sovereignty is dilluted and sold, your businesses are strangled and destroyed, your standard of living plummet, etc.

This is one of the most critical times for our country and human freedom. But you sure as hell wouldn’t know it by observing this pathetic coward, aka, the modern American, go about his day.

For me, it’s like a front row seat to a mass suicide.

All politics is local...I’m in NY. I think Giuliani can beat Gillebrand. But Schumer—I don’t even know if anyone challenges this guy.

I understand Peter Schiff, an economist, who’s been on Glenn Beck, is entering into the race in Connecticut. I can’t believe NY can’t put up a decent challenger to Schumer!

Unfortunately, incumbents typically get voted in. Unless the challenger has a compelling message and name recognition and energized base, lazy voters will pull the lever for name they recognize and that’s why we are in this situation. Hopefully, this year will be different.

Westchester County in NY voted in a Republican County Exec for first time in 12 years! It is liberal country up here. Do I think Nita Lowey, our Congresswoman can be beat? I do—but I haven’t seen any challenger’s name mentioned anywhere. I’m sure all of you paying attention, probably have similar stories to tell.
