Alyssa Bustamante, 15, has been certified as an adult and will stand trial for the murder of Elizabeth Olten, 9, of rural Cole County.
Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem ruled today the crime was vicious and the states juvenile facilities are inadequate to deal with someone who would commit such a crime.
Law enforcement testified that Bustamante had led them to the shallow grave in the woods where Oltens body was found two days after she went missing. One officer testified in court today that Bustamante had told investigators she did it because she wanted to know what it felt like to kill someone.
The grand jury indictment accuses Bustamante of killing Olten by strangling her, cutting her throat and stabbing her. Shes also charged with armed criminal action for using a knife in the attack.
The charges were shortly after Bustamante had been certified to stand trial as an adult. Shes being held in the Cole County jail with no bond.
Records show the suspect has attempted suicide in the past and has had ongoing mental evaluations.
Oltens family members attending the hearing wore pink T-shirts with her picture.
Bustamantes defense attorney asked the judge to let her stand trial as a juvenile, saying trying her as an adult would be a death sentence.
Olten disappeared Oct. 21, when she was on her way home from a friends house about a half a mile from her home.
Lets hope.
If she wants to know what it's like to be beaten savagely I'm willing to volunteer. Five minutes and a pipe wrench should do nicely.
I hope they stretch this little bitch's neck.
Sounds good to me. The sooner the better.
When searching for an article on this b@stard, found a link to facebook with his profile. There was no facebook the last time this monster was free. His sick @ss family made a page for him, how sweet. I’m infuriated all over again. How human life means nothing to these mental cases, like that of the little 9 year old girl just murdered, is unfathomable.
(The victims, George and Jeremy, were my former pizza delivery guys, two good hard working young men)

I have no problem with the death penalty either. Koskovich originally got it but later was overturned to life in prison.
Sadly in trying to find pictures of the victims from the pizza killings, only pictures of the murderers can be found.
As reprehensible as is the crime, it is clear that she is mentally ill—however not so mentally ill as to avoid punishment in any way.
My point is that she is a mental aberrant, who needs to be studied in prison. Not with the hope of curing her, but with the idea of profiling her, for the next time a young girl becomes a ruthless killer. Maybe someday stopping a different killer before they kill.
CAT scan her brain, go over her fluids with a detailed analysis, examine her DNA. If there is an organic reason for her being this way, find it.
She is of no more value than a lab rat, but she does have value *as* a lab rat.
The life of the girl she killed cannot be restored. But preventing such murder in the future is worth the effort. Likely just a few weeks out of the rest of the life of this killer.
It's really sad that our system doesn't lock people up and keep them locked up when that's what they need. If she'd been kept in a secure institution and treated, she might have outgrown her mental problems and gone on to have a decent life. And Elizabeth Olten would definitely still be alive.
If his family put up the page for him, they used a picture from his trial or one of his hearings. Not very affectionate.
Num 35:33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
Is this the dead girl or the one who killed her?
It’s the murderer.
Bye-bye Alyssa!
I agree with you. The potential value to society of the information should take precedence over concerns such as privacy.
She would probably not object anyway. Being a lab rat is more fun than cleaning toilets or making license plates.
They had “vibrant” young tykes like this back in the day (nowhere near as many as now) Difference is, they knew how to handle it:

Damn you're good! Father in prison for assault charges, mother reportedly on drugs, grandma has been guardian for half this kid's life.
Satan knows what he’s doing when he gets his minions to denegrate men and fathers.
Without real fathers, you get feral humans.
yes it is quite depressing isnt it

No, she earned capital punishment at this tender age.
