It would be appropriate to let him know how much we appreciate his vote. Not for the value of the vote, but because he gave the Dhims cover to say that it was "bipartisan."
There’s not much thinking going on around here lately. Emotion has overtaken their heads. Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail allowing us to beat the Commies in 2010.
Do you understand that this man’s constituency is NOLA? We are lucky to have CAO. This vote, that didn’t matter because he voted AFTER the 218 was achieved, might enable him to keep his seat in 2010. Slim chance, but more of a chance than another Republican winning that seat.
Orton didn’t represent a district in which 60% of the voters belonged to a group that cast 90% of their votes for the opposing party in every election for every office. Remember, Cao was elected in an extremely low-turnout December run-off in which blacks stayed home in droves and white Democrats that voted didn’t want to support the crook Jefferson.
I know that I posted a few weeks ago that if 2010 was exactly like 1994 that we would lose the seats held by Kirk, Castle, Gerlach and Reichert, with Kirk, Castle and Reichert being elected to the Senate and Gerlach losing in the gubernatorial primary to the eventual winner, and with every GOP House incumbent (including Cao) winning reelection, but even I didn’t believe it. : )

BS...the fight is with each individual seat. We need to go to full-on attack mode and keep all the RINOs and Dhims on their toes.
1. Support their opponents with money
2. Call and write them
3. Attend their meetings and call them out.
4. Protest their offices with huge signs
5. Support FreeRepublic
The point is that these people won’t stop. What is the next socialist bill they are going to support? Free clothes? Free electricity? Free tuition? Free Cars? Free bus tickets?
Cap and trade and then amnesty for illegals. By 2012, we won’t recognize what country we’re living in.

In that district, I have no doubt they were burning up his phone and fax lines demanding he support it. He did what his constituents demanded. Remember, many of the Blue Dogs said to hell with what the people want in their district and voted with the Pelosibeast anyway, and Cao didn’t. It sucks this thing passed, but anomalies like what happened with Cao last night are going to happen when we find GOPers winning elections in districts like his. So, I’m not sure what we expected him to do.

Yes he did. Freebie and entitlement programs have not helped his constituents to be anything but perpetually dependent and without worth. Furthermore, he abrogated his first duty which is to uphold the constitution. Voting for what you know to be wrong - practically speaking as well as morally, is never right. The fact that his voting for the bill will never get him re-elected given the make up of his district should have made it easy for him to vote his principles. What we now know is, he doesn’t have any.
That's Pelosi's style - late night voting (especially prefers weekends) and with this particular bill, it's done in modules; interchangeable to attract the right number of votes........then in the cover of darkness they'll change it right back, imo.
Yeah I wouldn’t bet on him getting to 40% let alone 50%.
Unfortunately heavily rat areas do not compare with heavily Republican areas. They’re, well, heavier. Especially mostly black areas.
Democrats who lie and say they are conservative CAN win anywhere. In 2006 when Nebraska’s third district (probably a top 5 GOP seat) was open the rat with the goofy name lost only 45-55. It took a perfect storm of unlikely circumstances to give a Cao a bare plurality win.
I’d still vote for him if I lived in New Orleans but it’s hard to enthusiastically back him. I do think if it was 217-217 they would have locked him in a room and twisted his arm to vote with us. He did vote for the GOP substitute amendment (zero rats did). Only Tim Johnson (IL) voted against it for some reason. Even Ron Paul voted for it so it probably didn’t contain anything very statist.
Still this is the worst thing the house has passed since I’d guess the Lyndon Johnson era, not even Connie Morella and Jim Jeffords voted for Clinton’s tax hike back in the day. I hope they do stick the abortion funding back in there if that will lead to the final bill’s defeat. Cao decided to put the future of his career into holding this district rather than running statewide. Not smart. Even if he holds the district once, it will be redrawn to take in more rat voters in 2012 and Obama will be on the ballot that year.
Billy says he’d lie low if he was elected in a heavily rat district, that’s probably smart but I’d wouldn’t vote the wrong way to appease the masses like Cao did. Probably not on anything no matter how minor, I wouldn’t want to be called a RINO. ;)
Anyhow as several people have hinted at ultimately Cao isn’t important beyond this congress. If he’s the deciding vote on anything he must convinced to vote the right way. Even giving them the ability to say this bill got Republican vote(s) is something that shouldn’t happen. Let them them own it 100% like Clinton’s tax hike. (Snowe is probably gonna vote for it of course)
The main focus of our ire should be the rats we need to pick off in 2010 whether they voted aye or nay, all voted against the more sensible GOP plan.
Like Bean. I’m fearing she’s the Illinois version of Dennis Moore. Mayor Maria Rodriguez is most interesting choice there. Boring businessmen have already had 2 chances to beat Bean. I really hope Illinois Republicans can beat her faux fiscally conservative hide as well as fellow fauxcon Debbie Halorvsen and mad scientist Bill Foster.
Endorsing an anointed RINO like Kirk is an act of political cowardice (and endorsing Mitt Romney is an act of foolishness). But in the grand scheme of things it’s minor I don’t put much importance into poor endorsements by candidates. Except in cases like Santorum and Bush carrying Specter across the goal line and idiocy like Gingrich’s deep amorous love of the DIABLO slag Dede Scuzzobama.
Little does the naive phuck know that he has earned no Dimocrat votes while alienating what few Republicans there were in his district.
I personally promise to send money to his Dimocrat opponent next year.

I think it was FOX News Sunday, someone said that was the only way he would vote for it, the provision abortion bill would NOT be part of the health care bill so I guess it was taken out.
The fight is in the Senate, and every day until 2010, 2012...No let up. This is not over...Not by a long shot. Let the phony “moderates” (i.e. Evan Bayh and Jim Webb) know that there days are numbered if they support this piece of crap, or any other crappy version Dirt Harry sneaks in behind close doors. They can either vote for Soros/Moveon liberalism or America’s future.

Fair enough. I was just trying to get into his head and figure out what the hell he was doing. He’ll be gone in 2010 regardless of what happened last night anyway. Given the makeup of that district I’m sure they’re chafing at being represented by a non-black individual.

Cao will be a one-term member of Congress regardless of what his vote was on the Health Care plan.
He won solely because people were sick of the incumbent - ala the same way Mike Flanagan won back in ‘94 when he defeated dan Rostenkowski. it’s worth noting that Flanagan was ousted after one term as the district reverted to their normal Democrat voting habits.
If you must contribute money, do it positively. Find a US House candidate who’s running against one of the Dems who voted for the Health Car bill.
He is pandering to welfare bums of New Orleans.
