This bill will SWELL the ranks of Medicaid.
Arkansas will gain an increase of the Medicaid populace by 39.8 percent or 194,000 from 487,538 to 681,538.
No wonder Blanche Lincoln is nervous.

But I fear the worst. So far the evil speaker has kept this bill alive. I hope her powers have been overcome but there is no way, in my mind, to predict what is going to happen and I am actually worried.
I don't have any insight into the blue dog's heads. Who knows what will motivate them?

Yes, but we also heard (about 80 bloody times) “It’s a done deal, they’re going to pass it on Tuesday” or similar panic.
It may not pass today. Probably will, but maybe not. and don’t forget this one important truth: It’s far more difficult to twist the arm of a Senator than a Rep.

Silverback is absolutely correct in this post.
Those protests were basically subsidized by communist/marxist front organizations. The tea parties are from the heart of America like he said.
I had my issues with GWB, but there is no disputing those facts.

Medicare benefits and options will be reduced . . . but what happens to Medicaid?
Is this new bill just an add-on for the poor or will Medicaid be discontinued?
To: GeronL
Do NOT expect the courts will do anything about it.
They will get the same strong-arming that FDR gave the USSC during his administration.

I would like to see a side by side chart of the “giver (taxpayer)” and “taker” congressional districts relative to the speakers today.
What are the odds Congressmen whose constituents are actual taxpayers are opposing the bill vs. those whose constituents consume rather than contribute to the cost of ‘entitlement’ programs are those promoting it?
Just as the left did during the Vietnam War by withholding their taxes, imagine if the right decided to withhold their tax contributions until ‘entitlements’ were controlled.

I looked EVERYWHERE for this thread - I forgot to use the word LIVE in a title search.
I'm glad this is finally in the sidebar, I just couldn't imagine there wasn't a live thread about this... although I'm having severe difficulty actually WATCHING the proceedings on CSPAN.

The brightest moment in all of this was just hearing Charlie Rangle piss and moan that it's just too bad this bill couldn't have been Bi-Partisan!
I'm so proud of our Republicans holding the line. The Rats OWN IT NOW!!

We don't see any large anti-war protests any more do we? Those pukes were under the guise that it was all about the safety of the troops. Well, since this administration casualties have risen exponentially and there is no outrage.
The same protests were non existent during Clinton's bombing of civilian targets in Serbia.
