Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.
The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.
The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.
The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn't sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.
Prayers for soldiers, families and all at Fort Hood.
If the shooters are muslims, the FBI will hold off release of the names. That should tell us volumes.
Nine confirmed dead
Prayers up!!
And I’m sorry, but this wouldn’t happen if the stupid bases weren’t open to everyone and their brother.
sickening photo
THAT IS A LIE. IT IS A TERRORIST ATTACK - The MOTIVATION of the terrorist is just not known at this time. But it is a terror attack.
They are probably afraid that some nimrod assuming muslim terrorism would blow up a mosque in “retaliation”.
Can’t we wait the hour or so it will take to release the names/descriptions of the suspects before we start accusing the Feds of a “cover-up”?
The talking point following the recuiters’ office shooting was that we needed more gun control. The rhetoric and hate behind the shooting was not a prime media talking point.
yep- infantrymen and MP’s
No thanks if it’s MSN...
thanks anyway, but I will stick here with FR
I pray they are unharmed...My local stations are all on because they know how many people are concerned just in this area..There are anxious family and friends all over the country.
God be with you all as you wait for news.
I know nothing new.
Not really clear if there are 2 shooters or 3 ..
All elementary schools on Ft hood on lockdown..Armed guards posted.
College classes in area cancelled , hearing that a football game cancelled while they try to find another shooter.
Yeah, the FBI finally arrived and took over.
A previous poster alluded to friend/relative in the military who speculated that if jihad(many shooters), then expect a FederalConeofSilence to descend.
And IMO the FBI just confirmed it. My, aren’t they fast and quick with that definitive conclusion.
“Don’t believe anything until it is officially denied” - Claude Cockburn.
If it is not terrorism, what does one call it?
Al Queerah???
What’s he supposed to be doing?
Base authorities and the Fumbling Bumbling Idiots are reporting that this is NOT a terrorist incident.
How the hell can they determine that so quickly?
I haven’t read much about it yet.
Neil Cavuto addressing the "how do you know" question with Dana Perino.
She says the FBI must have some information to dismiss terrorism. I'm not so sure, Dana.
“Alarm on base, according to his Fort Hood source, signals all persons to shut down heating/air conditioning and take immediate cover.”
Many years ago I worked at a military facility that dealt with nuclear training programs. We had coded alarms which included fires and the series of beeps indicated where the fire was located. Then we had a lockdown alarm, to put away our classified documents, lock down the offices and prepare for further instructions. The third alarm was for criticality, which basically instructed us to drop everything and head for the bus lots for evacuation (although I suspect it meant really to just kiss your you-know-what bye-bye). At any rate, if authorities wanted to get everyone to stay put and lock up, thereby clearing the grounds for searches and possibly exposing runners, then the lockdown alarm would seem to be the best bet. And it would protect people from accidentally running into a perp. (Incidentally, for about a week we kept having a spurious crit alarm go off. Longest week of my life.)
