Rasmussen: 49% Blame Bush for Economy, 45% Blame Obama
Rasmussen ^ | November 3, 2009

Posted on 11/03/2009 6:29:20 AM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

Voters for the first time are blaming President Obama nearly as much as President Bush for the country’s continuing economic problems.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 49% still blame the economic situation on the recession that began under Bush. But 45% now say the nation’s economic problems are caused more by Obama’s policies.

Just a month ago, 55% pointed the finger at Bush, while only 37% said the policies Obama has put in place since taking office were at fault. These findings had remained largely unchanged since May.

Sixty-two percent (62%) now trust their own judgment more than the president’s when it comes to the economic issues facing the nation, up three points from a month ago and up 13 points from early February. Twenty-seven percent (27%) trust Obama’s economic judgment more, and 11% are not sure.

My point is the republicans and the democraps tanked the market, the republicans by letting banks get into the CDOs, phil gramms Market Modernization act, written for his friend Ken Lay, etc, BS and the republicans and democraps with the loans to anybody crap. But the driving force, by going crazy lending, was the market. They were convinced there was no down side. The market shot it’s self in the ass, classic case of killing the goose to get the golden eggs.

I hope sickoflibs pronouncement is correct. (”Official end of the GW Bush era”). We need the voters to forget about him and focus on the current even worse President.

-- Poll also reflects that at least 49% of American voters are imbeciles --

At least. Notice the number who assigned blame and responsibility to Congress?

Bush had somthing like 60 months of job growth. It was not until dems took over that everything went down hill.

Normally I agree, but not this one. Barry’s heavy-handed interference may well wind up causing some problems.

As someone stated earlier tonight, the "Blame Bush" era has officially ended. The Dems can keep doing it, of course, but it isn't going to play well with Republicans of any stripe or independents. The Democrats will absolutely be crushed in 2010 if they keep playing that card.

These points grabbed me:

For nearly four-out-of-five voters, the bigger problem for the country is not their unwillingness to pay higher taxes. It’s their elected representatives’ refusal to cut government spending.

That'a a pretty good fit with only one fifth of the electorate identifying themselves as liberals in a recent Gallup poll, IIRC, as well as 2006 and 2008 exit polls.

Sixty-two percent (62%) of Americans say it’s always better to cut taxes than increase government spending because taxpayers, not bureaucrats, are the best judges of how to spend their own money.

For the first time in recent years, voters trust Republicans more than Democrats on all 10 key electoral issues, including the economy, regularly tracked by Rasmussen Reports.

Wrong question. Congress controls spending. In 2006, remember we had “the worst economy ever”...with 4.5% unemployment until the Democratic Congress was elected.

Somewhere there is video if SanFran Nan saying just that. It should be part of the RNC campaign armament resource for challenging incumbent Democrats. but then I’m not Michael Steele

RE "I hope sickoflibs pronouncement is correct. (”Official end of the GW Bush era”). We need the voters to forget about him and focus on the current even worse President."

Last night on MSNBC (prior to election results) I saw libs/progressives trying to make the positive case that a civil war will destroy the republican party, that the election in NY was good news for democrats.

I also saw their spin (MSNBC Maddow) that the massive election loss in VA ‘proves’ that dems need to pass a public option, because the liberal base stayed home because they didnt get health care. Yes, this was a victory for liberals (LOL). However they were not smiling.

I also saw fear on their (the progressives) faces for the first time in years. The Progressives know the health care debate has gone on too long, now Blue Dogs will rebel against government run health care. Up to now the libs have been able to demonize Leiberman as the sole holdout of ‘reform’. Harry Reid knows this is not true.

On the other side Obama has (in my opinion) has wanted a bill that is semi-bi-partision, meaning he is willing to give up the public plan to get Snow and Leiberman. (Similar to Bush selling us out.) He doesnt want democrats to completely own health care. To kill reform, we still need to egg on the progressives to hold out for strong public plan while scaring the moderate democrats (already scared.)

Christie Wins New Jersey Race

Back in December 2006 I started telling republicans that the party would be in for another two years of decline, ending with another election disaster 2008. Republicans could not win again as long as Bush was in office, and forget McCain. Now that time is over. Let's see what republicans can make out of it.

And Debby Wasserman-Schultz D-FL (the one with vampire teeth, who said that soldiers were not "real victims" of "hate crimes"), on Fox, saying the same as on Maddow. Made me and my wife want to throw up.

I saw the end of that too, surprised she would go on FNC.

Did you see the look on her face? Priceless.

I have seen it all before. Big D win and gloating 1992, 1998
R big win and gloating 1994, 2004.

Each time the politics changed on a dime. Enjoy the next year or so.

...49% still blame the economic situation on the recession that began under Bush.
But 45% now say the nation’s economic problems are caused more by Obama’s policies.

This is very encouraging. I don't much care who folk want to blame, as long as growing numbers are recognizing that individual decisions are preferable to ANY government's central command decisions on anything that isn't explicitly to "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty."

BO is either The Most Ignorant Constitutional Scholar, or The Most Deceiful:
the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf...
Now, who can say, with a straight face, that this Pretender is smart when this "Constitutional Scholar" doesn't know what's in the Preamble? Either that, or he's a Bald-Faced Liar. Your pick.
