How Can Glenn Beck Be Right on So Much and Yet Still Believe the book of Mormon? (serious question)

Posted on 10/26/2009 7:51:02 AM PDT by Scythian

I'm a huge Beck fan, in fact I'm listening right now here

http://www.ksfa860.com/common/gap_streamer.php

but something really confuses me. It takes the ability to use real critical thinking to know what Beck (and most of us know about the state of the country and where we are heading). That is, we have the ability to discover the truth no matter how much the media or conventional wisdom try to hide it. Yet on Mormonism, Beck is cleary wrong. Any Christian knows that the book or momonism is severely flawed and that Joseph Smith was no prophet. How can Beck cut through all the chaff of what is going on in our world and come to the truth and yet believe the writings of Joseph Smith? It doesn't make sense? I'm not saying he's up to something secret, not by any means, it's just that he's so right about so many things and completely wrong on the most important thing. Now, he just said on the air that he believes Jesus is the Savior of the world and that he is Mormon.

I also think that because he is Mormon he is not attacked near as much if he was a Evangelical Bible only believer. Anyway, am I nutz or does Beck being a Mormon seem bizarre?

Do you think in another 200 years your grandchildren will still be ranting and raving about Joseph Smith.

Nope: the end is near.

I DON’T KNOW HOW YOU EXPECT TO CHANGE PEOPLES MINDS WITH SUCH DIATRIBE!!

Ol' Joe somehow managed it:

http://scriptures.lds.org/en/js_h/1/17#17

17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!
18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)—and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.”
20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself lying on my back, looking up into heaven. When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, mother inquired what the matter was. I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.” I then said to my mother,
“I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.”

No...

200 years from now Jesus will have returned and Jpoey Smith will have already been judged by God for all his evil and caste into Hell...

I and my children and grandchildren wont be thinking about him...

We’ll be too busy worshipping Jesus the Lamb of God with all the other Christians before the throne of God the Father...

The other Christians will be man and woman, black and white and colored of every nation...

What will you be doing ???

If you lived during the time of the original 12 Apostles..I wonder what you would have said about Saul Of Tarsus who became the Apostle Paul. I doubt it would have been very good.
Do you recall that Jesus said, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you. Matt:5:44-48.
You folks say you Mormons are good people, it is just Joseph Smith and our leadership. If our leadership and our beliefs are evil then we must also be evil in your eyes. You can’t have it both ways. If you hate my leadership then you hate me. The Saviour said,; an evil tree cannot bring forth good fruit. Love is what The Gospel is all about, I suggest you spend your time loving others.

My intent is not to impress anyone. The attempt is to show that we too try to serve the Lord by helping others. We are victims of people like you who cannot find any good in anything Mormon. We are all over the third world but you do not know it by your comments. We have thousands of members in Africa where we have helped bring in fresh water wells hundreds of times, delivered wheel chairs, set up health clinics, and more importantly we teach people how to improve their lives physically as well as spiritually. Our Perpetual Education Fund has helped 38,000 young people in these countries to gain educations, or learn a trade to get them out of centuries old poverty. I just get frustrated with the assumption that everything Christian is wonderful and everything Mormon is evil.We are better able than most to help people because we do not pay out salaries at the local level.

You say no one else trumpets their work with third world countries. Perhaps you haven’t seen the countless T.V. Evangelists with their pitch from funds for the great work they are doing!!

When this doctrine was introduced many men left The Church, most were Puritans and it was hard. Is plural marriage biblical? The Lord blessed Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, polygamists all. Hagar never married when Sarah gave her to Abraham to bear children. There was a need to build up Abraham’s posterity.
The Lord obviously approved, perhaps to build up the kingdom.
Perhaps the need was there in the early church. Some of the greatest people I know came from these families. (I know you will love that statement)

Yes I recall that scripture...

but Joey Smith was a stranger to it...

He hated those who he couldnt use or con or rob from...

and sought to destroy them...

In fact the Bible and Joey Smith were strangers...

And Joey Smith never met Jesus...he was a stranger to Jesus too...

Do you recall Jesus ???

You know that one whom your Joey Smith boasted he was greater than...

Well Jesus Christ the Lord destroyed your pagan Joey Smith for his evil presumption...his pride and his arrogance...

Kid you really should read this stuff for yourself...

My comment was about the trumpeting of the mormons when they claim to do something for someone......

Nice of you to admit that I was right...

BTW when was the last time Munson put his arms around a man with AIDS and feed him from his own table ???

Jesus did that kind of thing...

That beneath Munson ???

Yes I guess it would be...

Munson is too Earthly good to ber of any good to Heaven...

When this doctrine was introduced many men left The Church,
_________________________________________________________

Really ???

They were decent men then...

But Joey Smith was a foul evil pagan who chased after little girls and lied to them so that he could seduce them...he had 40+ one night stands...

He even threatrened his wife Emma with death when she objected to his adulterous ways...

However God didnt kill Emma...

Instead God killed the foul pedophile Joey Smith, rapist of little girls...

BTW those stories they fed you about the men in the Old Testament...

Isaac only had 1 wife, Rebecca...

Abraham didnt hear from god about Hagar...that was his wifes idea and the world has paid with death and violence for child of that stupidity...

Sarah didnt believe God that she herself would have a child so she gave Hagar to Abraham(glad you said that for Hagar remained as Sarahs property6, Sarahs slave and NEVER Abraham’s wife)

Hagar had a child and Abraham never treated her like a wife (unless you mean how and like Brigham Young mistreated his many girlfriends..) Sarah rfemained the mistress of Hagar...

braham only needed one son..God did good with that one sole son ...

All through the Bible there are stories of men having more than one wife but there are no scriptures that say God told them to take more than one wife...

Instead God says to have only one wife, and condemns adultery...

The filthy idea that God would condone a sex club or orgy in Heaven or in order to get into Heaven is so fouland demonic no decent God fearing person would ever believe it...

The very idea turns my stomach...

God is Righteous...and anyone suggesting that He is not is of the enemy of God, Satan himself, the perverter of the things of God...

Not true.

Eve was not EVIL when she followed what the Father of Lies told her.

MORMONs are not EVIL because they, too, are deceived by the Father of Lies.

Probably very much the same as...

Acts 9:13-14, 21
13. "Lord," Ananias answered, "I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem.
14. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name."

21. All those who heard him were astonished and asked, "Isn't he the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? And hasn't he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?"

You cannot get any more 'loving' than pointing out the deceptions of the Father of Lies.

This has been covered in this thread already.

You scored your point.

MORMONism is still not Christian.

The Pope lives in an 8,000 sq. ft. apartment.

How big is Monson's living quarters?
