Rescuers are tracking and chasing a "homemade flying saucer" that is in flight with a 6-year-old, by himself, on board.
The incident started this morning in Fort Collins when the boy got into the balloon-like device, which was built by an adult, and it came loose from a tether, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.
The contraption could rise as high as 10,000 feet, the sheriff's office said.
The home-made flying saucer was last seen in flight over Weld County.
The sheriff's office is working the Federal Aviation Administration to determine how to best get the boy down.

Bravo zulu. And when engineers let harmonics go to infinity, they get Tacoma Narrows :o)
I’ve daydreamed seriously making an ultralight. The day may be coming close to actually getting blueprints and such...
My balloon is invisible so you won’t be able to see me.
You had 3 and survived...:O)

I have three daughters and a son, he is the youngest. Two of my daughters are identical twins so that was tons of fun!
I never had a bit of trouble raising my girls, they were so active and busy with cheerleading, 4-H, and scores of clubs that it was just fun. Thank goodness, lol
That sounds like fun even today....:O)
However, comma, I'm from the Dave Barry school of dyslexic left handed RTFM construction, meaning: from the last page of the instructions, reading left to right, for building the charcoal grill - light gas.
Woof.
My tagline is my mission statement.
I just saw this youtube. Say it all. Make the guy pay for all the cost for police, helicopters, etc. Every penny. This person punked a lot of people and many people were praying and horrified. He should be deeply ashamed of himself.
See post 1,653. I missed it too. The kid just exposed them on national TV.
For those of you who missed the press conference where he described his invention. http://www.foxnews.com/video2/video08.html?maven_referralObject=10702718&maven_referralPlaylistId=&sRevUrl=http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,567120,00.html?test=latestnews
Thanks, I just saw the youtube(post1653)video. Told me all I needed to know about this guy. The dad just got grounded by Falcon.LMAO
I saw the video from CNN. That was incredible. Too bad our inept media doesn’t go after the story anymore unless of course it is about a conservative. Then they just make it up.

Wow it just gets better. Wolf Blitzer asked follow up questions.
Maybe!
Thanks!
I’m well aware of the “flat” (i.e., deflated) part, but in the beginning it was not that deflated.
No, it wasnt flat the whole time, but at the beginning it was also not filled out anywhere near full. It had a thin saucer shape all around the outside, and filled in gradually as the balloon swirled around. You could see it was not fully inflated from the beginning. I guess my point was that it didnt have the capacity to lift a 40 pound payload, and looking now at the youtube video, it seems it was a set up to begin with.
