Rescuers are tracking and chasing a "homemade flying saucer" that is in flight with a 6-year-old, by himself, on board.
The incident started this morning in Fort Collins when the boy got into the balloon-like device, which was built by an adult, and it came loose from a tether, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.
The contraption could rise as high as 10,000 feet, the sheriff's office said.
The home-made flying saucer was last seen in flight over Weld County.
The sheriff's office is working the Federal Aviation Administration to determine how to best get the boy down.

[They were in on the whole thing and will tell their kids to take all the blame.]
Sad if true. I haven’t followed the thread since the balloon came down empty. I did hear the two brothers ‘were on the roof with a video camera’ and that sounded strange.
As a mom, this reminds me of those moments when my son was little when I would be torn- do I holler at him before or after I hug him to pieces?
I’m thankful the little boy has been found, and that he is safe and unharmed. I’ve been praying for that since I heard about this incident, but I haven’t followed it closely other than to read parts of this thread.
If this was a hoax, and the parents knew about it, they should have to pay for the search operations out of any money they make off the story.
Since they were on a reality show, as mentioned here, they may have gotten the idea for getting their own reality show.
Hope not, but you never know about people in this topsy turvy society these days.
It was just “Baby Jessica” during the rescue ;-)
Something that never made sense was the older brother’s saying he saw Falcon get in the thing, it took off and he saw Falcon fall out. That couldn’t have happened far from home, had it happened.
Not if you have kids or remember being a kid. I did no-nos as a kiddo and did my damnedest to cover them up.
Anyone who participates in a reality TV show is a nutcase.
>Thank God! Now give the little tike a spanking that he will never forget!<
Tough choice for the parents. Do you hug him first and then spank him or spank him first and then hug him?
That is her. Thanks Jewbacca.
Hmmmmm - what did Congress push through during this distraction?
Now that we all know that the children are alive, you have to admit that we’re all enjoying this chase a lot more than the OJSimpson chase or any number of other stories.
When I heard the parents are involved in a reality TV show I suspected this was all a publicity put-on.
I hope they get a healthy bill for all the trouble they caused for search helicopters, etc.
The family with 18 kids on TLC appears fairly normal aside from having that many kids.
We will definitely be on Fox & Friends in the AM. They are picking us up and we should be the first story at 6:00 AM. I think they want to talk about the ‘device’.
I don’t have to google anything. You missed my point. As usual on this site, everyone is so eager to blame someone, they rush out with suggestions the parents should be charged with manslaughter, that the parents are media whores, that the parents are bad parents because they don’t live just like “me.”
The wife swap deal really kind of blows this story for me....Too bad it just wasn’t, “Dad the amateur scientist”....
You’d have to be kind of stupid and slightly kinked to go on a show like wife swappers.
If this family are media hounds, they sure got their fix today.
Yell at him as you hug him! Then you beat him!
After. Definitely. It just happens that way automatically.
I remember I planned on yelling at my little one when she was missing, but the second I saw her I hugged her like never before.
