If the source was John Jay as some sources indicate and makes some sense then since John Jay was in France around 1782 and had a chance to become acquainted with Vattel’s work.

Most of us can understand the implied citizen and it makes sense for John Jay to add Natural born citizen when shortening the overall paragraph in Vattel. In context of the whole paragraph what is implied is clear.

WRT “Natural born” vs “Native born” I think you are confusing different time frames and different sources. It is clear what Vattel was saying for Natural Born - born in country of citizen parents - plural not singular.

Others could use native to mean just born in the country. Since we are talking about Article II of the Constitution and qualifications for President and the language is Natural born, then the discussion about native citizen is a red herring.

So again Obama is not a natural born citizen since he at the very minimum was not born to two citizens.

Until Independence everyone in the Colonies were subjects of the crown and so jus sanguinis did not apply.

As subjects, the jus soli principle applied to anyone born in the colonies, and the jus sanguinis principle still applied to those born outside the realm of the British Crown.

(c) While I'm not sure if you consider the National Review-published The Heritage Guide to the Constitution, edited by Edwin Meese III, et al scholarly, it has a discussion about Presidential Eligibility and, more particularly, the "natural born citizen" requirement as well (pp. 189-91).

The White House will be forced to release the record because no politician could stand the scrutinity of denying sick children much needed hopsital upgrades over something as silly as releasing the name of his birth doctor.

The minute the White House refused to honor the request the media should be all over the story the pressure would be immense and we would finally get the truth.

Ok I will delve into this deeper.

It seems that Vattel was available in English as early as 1759 and a copy was on hand during the writing of the Constitution.

I think the source for the Natural Born requirement was from Vattel. But I will get your sources and educated myself to see if a rationale argument can be made for any other interpretation given the sources and background of the framers.

I honestly don't know what is wrong with the people who latch on to these threads to bash Orly. She is slowly but surely getting the case in front of more and more people. Some will dismiss her out of hand. But others may just google "Obama birth certificate" and start asking questions. Maybe she is nuts or maybe not. This may go nowhere or maybe it will. But at least she is doing something to cause Zero even more problems than he causes himself.

I am willing to look at opposing views to see if they have any merit. But it seems that too often those will are not willing to entertain any notion that Obama might not be a Natural Born Citizen use Alinksy type tactics. They link to web sites that present half baked ideas and mostly just try to ridicule those who want to preserve this Republic.
