Sima Samar, women's rights activist in Afghanistan: "With dogged persistence and at great personal risk, she kept her schools and clinics open in Afghanistan even during the most repressive days of the Taliban regime, whose laws prohibited the education of girls past the age of eight. When the Taliban fell, Samar returned to Kabul and accepted the post of Minister for Women's Affairs."

Ingrid Betancourt: French-Colombian ex-hostage held for six years.

"Dr. Denis Mukwege: Doctor, founder and head of Panzi Hospital in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo. He has dedicated his life to helping Congolese women and girls who are victims of gang rape and brutal sexual violence."

Handicap International and Cluster Munition Coalition: "These organizations are recognized for their consistently serious efforts to clean up cluster bombs, also known as land mines. Innocent civilians are regularly killed worldwide because the unseen bombs explode when stepped upon."

"Hu Jia, a human rights activist and an outspoken critic of the Chinese government, who was sentenced last year to a three-and-a-half-year prison term for 'inciting subversion of state power.'"

"Wei Jingsheng
, who spent 17 years in Chinese prisons for urging reforms of China's communist system. He now lives in the United States."

Pawlenty, Huckabee, and Romney won’t seriously attack Obama. After all, trying to unseat Obama would be racist.

To the GOP Beltway, 2012 is a throw away election. So they can nominate Jeb Bush in 2016 to be the party’s saviour.

Thanks for that list. Wanted to know who was passed over in order so those 5 Euro-weenies could “honor” Comrade Obama.

Now I want to know has the Nobel Peace Prize EVER gone to those who have stood up to tyrants in this world as did several of those who did NOT win this now joke of a prize?

I don’t recall it if that has happened,....

We should not expect people who value freedom from tyranny to be “honored” by people who have willingly surrendered themselves to the “soft” tyranny of socialism that is Europe’s milk and honey.

I would say those who LOST are truly the worthy ones and that it’s a good thing they were not so “honored” since to do so would be to place them on par with the likes of the lowlifes who have recently been so “honored.”

God bless them all! Thank GOD for their courage and achievements.

The Ego is too big. No room for such a feeling as embarrassment.

The Nobel Peace Prize has become such a joke that awarding it to the people “who were passed over for Obama” would cast suspicion on their achievements.

Here’s a link with an account of the “Sad History Of The Nobel Peace Prize”: http://sweetness-light.com/archive/dtn-history-of-the-nobel-peace-prize

The King of Norway would do well to to change the name of the Nobel Peace Prize to the “Nobel Dubious Distinction Award”.

I don’t know if this question has been brought up yet on this thread, but WHO NOMINATED OBAMA AND WHY??

***

This is one category that can nominate ...

University professors of history, political science, philosophy, law and theology, university presidents and directors of peace research international affairs institutes ...

If I had to guess - it was some weenie out of the University of Chicago ...

” I heard BHO is going to give it to charity, let it be those.”

I’m sure it will somehow get to Obama’s favorite charity...

Bubba is probably second guessing his decision to bomb that aspirin factory all those Monica years ago. I’m sure that’s what put him out of the running.

I didn't agree when he said we, as a country, should be happy he got it, it's a good thing, etc.

Funny, that sounds just like when a child scores failing grades in school yet you give them A's so they'll feel good about themselves. BOR corners himself by trying to be all to all (ratings).

“This is an outrage. Barry ought to be embarrassed and give it back.”

If he had any decency, he WOULD. The runner-ups all exhibited great bravery and moral courage. Zero did NOTHING! This is a sham, it plays to the biases of the so-called “world community”, which would like to see a small, poor, neutered America that has about as much relative influence on world affairs as Austria or France. Disgusting!

Thank you for that link. I will print out that info and give it to a “friend” who was delighted today to know that HER HERO had been given the NPP.

I let her know:

He was nominated no later than Feb of this year - what did he accomplish in 11 days?

Was this to recognize that the Obammunists had surrendered this week to the Taleban? (suggesting they be included in the governance of Afghanistan)....she had not heard that and would not believe it even after giving her links to the news stories...)

That Ghandi had been nominated 5 times for this NPP, but never won it - while Arafat, the terrorist killer did win it..

That Reagan and Thatcher who together brought down a murderous communist regime in the USSR and Eastern Europe without firing a shot were never given this “peace” prize...

and now I have this list of other atrocities perpetrated on the world by the infamous “Nobel Peace Prize” givers...so just thanks.

Not the nominations. Just who did the nominating. We won’t know who nominated the O for 50 years, according to what I heard on a radio news report.
