The Democratic party and their allies are mounting an afternoon public relations offensive to counter the jokes and other negative reactions to the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama for no apparent reason or accomplishment.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi:
"President Obama is working to restore American leadership worldwide and build bonds of friendship across the globe. The Nobel Peace Prize is a testament to his leadership and vision and a tribute to American values. I offer my congratulations to President Obama on this outstanding achievement.
"Diplomacy and cooperation are the cornerstones of a strong, effective foreign policy. President Obama has worked tirelessly to put these principles into practice. In an age when the actions of one nation can affect the future of all nations, the President has recognized the need for global solutions to our most pressing challenges. And he is rallying the world around the common causes of building a world free of nuclear weapons, combating climate change, defeating the forces of terror, securing human rights, and pursuing peace among all nations."
Gov. Tim Kaine, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee:
"The Nobel Committee's decision to award this year's Peace Prize to President Obama is an affirmation of the fact that the United States has returned to its longstanding role as a world leader. The President has made a conscious decision from the beginning of his presidency to reinvigorate diplomacy, by talking to our friends and our rivals. Those efforts to bring world leaders together are helping the people of the world to face monumental challenges like nuclear arms proliferation, conflict resolution and climate change.
"With this prize comes a sense of enormous pride, but also an enormous sense of humility about the work that remains if we are to resolve the global problems facing humanity. Democrats will continue to work with President Obama to keep moving America forward, as we continue in earnest to sow peace, progress and understanding around the world."
John Gage, National President of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE):
AFGE congratulates President Obama on the 2009 Nobel Peace prize, a well-earned and well-deserved honor. While the Nobel committee recognized President Obama for his work in international politics and nuclear disarmament, the committee also recognized that he brings vision and hope to the people of the world for a better future -- a message that he brought to all Americans and the federal workforce last November.
We were proud to stand by President Obama in 2008 and we are proud still to stand by him today. We share his vision of good government, reforming our broken health care system, ensuring pay equality, and fully funding our government agencies so we can better service the American public. AFGE looks forward to continuing our work with the Obama administration as we celebrate the accomplishments of our great country, our great union and our president.
The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is the largest federal employee union, representing 600,000 workers in the federal government and the government of the District of Columbia.
"It's a stunning announcement and it reflects well on America's ideals and the world's yearning for American leadership.
"Little is possible without leadership. No one can force other nations to follow, but President Obama is reintroducing America to the rest of the world, and people of goodwill everywhere do have hope about working together for progress on some of the world's most daunting and dangerous problems."
The four statements were all posted within minutes of each other on PR Newswire.
You can post a Barry, but please excuse me while I take an Obama.
Regards,
TS
Excellent points we need to consider.
And neither is worth $h#% without Aircraft carriers, B52's, US Marines, etc and someone with the brains and stones to use them. Zero has neither.
They might as well give it up, everyone is laughing. Even die hard liberals are laughing about this.
That’s really the 2009 Nobel Committee?
15 white guys and a token chick. Nice.
Booby prize.
Oh. I thought you said Dingle Berry ...
Ointing and laughing seems to be something the Dems just can’t handle? We should do far mre of it!
I guess to phrase it another more modern way...
Good intentions are all that matters... for the GPS directions straight to Hell. ;~))
Honestly, all I can fault Obama for this is accepting the idiot award. If he had any sense of dignity or history, he would reject it and tell them their are more deserving people.
It is the Nobel Peace Prize committee once again demonstrated, beyond all reasonable doubt, to be mind numbed politically correct idiots pushing an agenda that is the total opposite of peace. They have turned the prize into an Orwellian joke.
Any person with a shred of integrity given this award in the future for any accomplishment, large or small, should simply decline and tell them to stuff it. They are a joke. The Prize has become a joke.
That should be:
Pointing and laughing seems to be something the Dems just can’t handle? We should do more of it!
With my “One Big Ass Mistake America” and “Got a Birth Certificate?” stickers on my car, I have been waiting patiently for somebody to question me.
Sadly, no takers yet. I love Political discussions, but Liberals have nothing to say that makes any sense and no factual information to back up anything they might pull out of their A$$es.
No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States: and no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.
It just struck me that I read that the Nobel "peace prize" committee is actually a creature of the Norwegian Parliament. If so, accepting the "prize" is illegal without a vote of Congress.
.... because when a liberal says that the world is “yearning for American leadership,” every other liberal knows that “American leadership” is code for “American capitulation to the worst political theories of the last 3,000 years.”
I received this from the Democrat Party:
“We woke up yesterday to tremendous news: The Nobel Committee has awarded this year’s Peace Prize to President Barack Obama.
The President made a conscious decision from the beginning of his presidency to promote American ideals through re-invigorated diplomacy, talking to rivals as well as allies, and inspiring us all to put what binds us together ahead of what pushes us apart. Yesterday’s news is a clear sign that the United States has returned to its long-standing role as a world leader.
It’s also a reminder of why we all worked so hard to elect Barack Obama as president of the United States. Hearing the President announce that he will accept the award as a “call to action,” I was inspired once again:
“...I know that throughout history, the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it’s also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes. And that is why I will accept this award as a call to action — a call for all nations to confront the common challenges of the 21st century.” The news has left me deeply proud to be an American. So I want to congratulate President Obama, and give every American the opportunity to join me in saying “Congratulations, Mr. President.”
Send a message of congratulations to the President.
President Obama’s efforts to bring world leaders together are helping the people of the world face monumental challenges like nuclear arms proliferation, conflict resolution and climate change. His deep commitment to constructive solution and building alliances is bringing about a safer America and a more peaceful world.
It’s exactly the change we fought so hard for.
The prize reflects a world that all Americans want to build. For our nation, it brings a sense of enormous pride. But it also brings a sense of deep humility about the work that remains if we are to resolve the global problems facing humanity.
As President Obama continues to work for a world in which conflicts are resolved peacefully and prosperity is widely shared, we will stand with him. And today, we’re taking a moment to simply say, “Congratulations”:

Sincerely,
Governor Tim Kaine Chairman”
They want us to send congratulations to Obama for being a Quisling...
