The Democratic party and their allies are mounting an afternoon public relations offensive to counter the jokes and other negative reactions to the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama for no apparent reason or accomplishment.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi:
"President Obama is working to restore American leadership worldwide and build bonds of friendship across the globe. The Nobel Peace Prize is a testament to his leadership and vision and a tribute to American values. I offer my congratulations to President Obama on this outstanding achievement.
"Diplomacy and cooperation are the cornerstones of a strong, effective foreign policy. President Obama has worked tirelessly to put these principles into practice. In an age when the actions of one nation can affect the future of all nations, the President has recognized the need for global solutions to our most pressing challenges. And he is rallying the world around the common causes of building a world free of nuclear weapons, combating climate change, defeating the forces of terror, securing human rights, and pursuing peace among all nations."
Gov. Tim Kaine, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee:
"The Nobel Committee's decision to award this year's Peace Prize to President Obama is an affirmation of the fact that the United States has returned to its longstanding role as a world leader. The President has made a conscious decision from the beginning of his presidency to reinvigorate diplomacy, by talking to our friends and our rivals. Those efforts to bring world leaders together are helping the people of the world to face monumental challenges like nuclear arms proliferation, conflict resolution and climate change.
"With this prize comes a sense of enormous pride, but also an enormous sense of humility about the work that remains if we are to resolve the global problems facing humanity. Democrats will continue to work with President Obama to keep moving America forward, as we continue in earnest to sow peace, progress and understanding around the world."
John Gage, National President of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE):
AFGE congratulates President Obama on the 2009 Nobel Peace prize, a well-earned and well-deserved honor. While the Nobel committee recognized President Obama for his work in international politics and nuclear disarmament, the committee also recognized that he brings vision and hope to the people of the world for a better future -- a message that he brought to all Americans and the federal workforce last November.
We were proud to stand by President Obama in 2008 and we are proud still to stand by him today. We share his vision of good government, reforming our broken health care system, ensuring pay equality, and fully funding our government agencies so we can better service the American public. AFGE looks forward to continuing our work with the Obama administration as we celebrate the accomplishments of our great country, our great union and our president.
The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is the largest federal employee union, representing 600,000 workers in the federal government and the government of the District of Columbia.
"It's a stunning announcement and it reflects well on America's ideals and the world's yearning for American leadership.
"Little is possible without leadership. No one can force other nations to follow, but President Obama is reintroducing America to the rest of the world, and people of goodwill everywhere do have hope about working together for progress on some of the world's most daunting and dangerous problems."
The four statements were all posted within minutes of each other on PR Newswire.
The only way our country can survive such a deep divide is to return to the days of a weak central government and strong state sovereignty,
where the ideas of one group cannot affect the lives of the other.
However, this idea is anathema to the left, who desire to control everyone’s life because they think they know better.
Criminal organizations , like the DemocRat Party and its leadership, have PR firms working for them... ready to pump the propaganda by the bucketfuls in a steady and coordinated attack.
Oh, man - I’m too far away from home to photoshop what I’d like to do - a Crackerjack box with the words, “A Nobel Peace Prize in Every Box!” in the same font as the original.
Might you be referring to the term dingleberry?
You’re trying to use logic on liberals.
It doesn’t work.
The Baraqqi coalition is all about “feeling”.
That’s why they will be harder to knock out of power than many FReepers think.
The world's yearning for American leadership? How is it that when a liberal says this, it's not considered smug or condescending?
ok, now I know for a fact the dems read FR today..
The greatest irony is that this Marxist meat puppet of a President will preside over the course of the next American Civil War.
They are the stink bombs that always come to the party even though they are not invited.
Exactly!
The last useful thing Nobel did was to invent dynamite.
Increasing unemployment and decreasing national security have nasty ways of making the Obozo/Rats hold on power diminish decisively faster than they think.
The Nobel Peace prize was reduced to total excrement when Arafat and Carter got it. Barry’s just another shovel on the pile.
Well, that didn’t take long.
