Does anyone think that Obama would have taken a chance on the trip if he didn't already know Chicago had won?
"US President Barack Obama will travel to Copenhagen to support the bid by the city of Chicago to host the 2016 Olympic Games, the White House says."
Your commenmtary belongs in the first post after the article, not as part of the article. This was very misleading. You made it appear as if the BBC were asking your question. Coming from the BBC that would be very interesting, coming from you, not so much.
So then BO didn't need to go to Copenhagen in the first place, and all this time he could've spent making the important life and death decisions and studying the important issues that have been waiting to be attended to????
Will ACORN have a bob sled team?
Not from the BBC. The poster inserted his question improperly.<p<In answer to the question though...I’d say yes. I can believe that obama is narcissistic and arrogant enough to believe that he can force a decision for Chicago based on his personal charisma alone irregardless of what the committee may already be thinking. Any other President would’t bother unless they knew it was a done deal. Obama posseses a degree of arrogance we’ve never seen before.
yep. That's what I'm thinking.
Conventional wisdom is leaning to “the fix” being in....
I aggree with rush on conventional wisdom...
Does anyone think that Obama would have taken a chance on the trip if he didn't already know Chicago had won?
This sentence appears no where in the article.
I suppose they are right about the decision already being made. However, I have to wonder if the Europeans, whom the Obambi crowd adore as being so enlightened, really will be blown away and bow down to the crowd of ‘black folks from Chicago’ trying to impress them.
Also, wouldn’t the committee have some concerns about Chicago being a prime target for terrorists? But perhaps that is the case with any location, as the Olympics are such a symbol.
He didn’t say that it did. The part from the article is in quotes, He also posted a link to his article so you could read it yourself.
But hey. He got people to look up at him from the audience. Isn't that what matters most? Gee. What a great president (not).
Always!
If they don't, they'll all be labeled "racists." See how that works?
I hope the fix isn’t in, and I hope the Olympics don’t come to Chicago.
I think he had to go. Other heads of state/government were there. If he goes and Chicago gets it, then he gets some of the credit. If he doesn’t go and Chicago gets it, he gets no credit. If he goes and Chicago doesn’t get it, he can say he did his best. If he doesn’t go and Chicago doesn’t get it, he gets blamed for not trying hard enough.
“Acorn...bob sled team...”
lolololololololol!

They may be right. But it could also be a sign of Obama’s arrogance. He seems to think that anyone who meets him will melt at his feet. I’m sure that hands have been greased for Chicago’s victory. But that doesn’t mean that the international committee will play by the rules Obama assumes they will. I hope, regardless of the winner, that someone will write and publish the back story after 2016.
I think he thought it was in the bag. I now have my doubts due to several reasons.
- that horrible video of the kid being beaten to death outside his school
- news dribbling out of Chicago that many locals are against this (despite attempts to suppress)
- the unfolding ACORN scandal and high likelihood that some Friends of Barry will profit from shady Olympic deals in Chicago (IOC has gotta wonder do we want to be holding the bag when the next shoe drops?)
- His speech was nothing more than another self-serving, arrogant campaign screed. I can’t imagine it impressed anybody.
- South America has never had the games and Brazil has gone much further to placate the global Green crowd
