Camille Paglia Provides Much-Needed Intellectual Cred for Birthers (Going Mainstream?)

And you thought birtherism was just for hillbillies and Republicans! David Weigel heard Camille Paglia on NPR yesterday, where the author of Sexual Personae and UArts professor told a no doubt astonished latte-drinking audience that "there are legitimate questions about the documentation of Obama's birth certificate. I'm sorry, I've been following this closely from the start." Indeed she has; we noticed her railing on the topic as far back as November ("simple questions about the certificate were never resolved to my satisfaction"). Now that they've got a genuine intellectual on board, the birthers just need a popular entertainer to carry their message to the sheeple. Come on, Toby Keith, what are you waiting for?

This was in the Village Voice? It may not be ‘mainstream’ but it’s standard reading for NYC’s liberals.

He may be an incompetent huckster, but he's an eligible incompetent huckster. I'm not so sure.
Granted, the BC could only damage or destroy the Obamythology he has crafted, but there is likely more because nothing, no school records, no articles, no admissions records nor transcripts, nothing has been released.
Whether it is disqualifying, "embarassing" (in that it belies the myths), or simply criminal, we won't know until we see the information, if ever.

Nah, 12Cs are actually still around. It’s the 11C and 15C that have disappeared.

I'm glad to hear that, because I've been carrying mine around in my purse for 30 years and it's getting a little cranky. I even had to make a new case for it.
But nobody ever asks 'can I borrow your calculator?' more than once!

...The Texas Democratic Party didnt adhere to specific procedures mandated by law. And Im not speaking of an abstract concept of honoring an oath. Texas Election Code specifically mandates how a candidates application to be on the ballot is to be reviewed and approved. It provides no wiggle room.WHEN do u try to go to court?

When I’m sure I have an airtight case. I’m waiting for the legal opinion of two people on the statutes that I’ve outlined in my complaint.

Hey, if she can actually provide some hard, cold facts to support the birther movement, then more power to her. If she can make a *real* case that extends beyond autoerotic conspiracy theory, then I’m all for it.
Up to this point, the birthers have nothing but innuendo and, I hate to say, outright lies. Falling for that fake birth certificate a while back shows that birthers aren’t as interested in truth as they are in advancing their cause by any means necessary.
Frankly, you ought to be ashamed of yourself for not being able to understand the difference. If you are an example of what conservatism is coming to, then we really need to clean house.

OK, so maybe not airtight but at least strong enough that it stands a good chance of not being immediately dismissed.

Oh! You decided to stay.
The records themselves aren't important, with the exception of Barry's Birth Certificate having disappeared with those records.
What is important is that government property has obviously been absconded and would have contained information pertaining to Barry's birth and the circumstances regarding that blessed event.
You apparently want to pick which subjects to parse and undoubtedly have no interest in learning anymore about Barry than he has told you.
Right?

You know, I think it is odd that you signed up on Mexican Independence Day when the 27th of September would have made more sense.
Still, I suspect you are not the intellect you pretend to be or want to become as progenitor of your namesake.
But, hang around. I can play twenty questions all day long. It is only going to make for better posting.
See what I don't understand about people like you, is your bent on disproving a position. To undermine or weaken, said position.
It would be more effective where you to ignore us and go on doing what you intend to do, thereby making us irrelevant.
Kind of like what happened to the Gods of Rome. Once the people stopped talking about them they passed into memory, with no further effect on present societies daily lives.
They are gone.
