Up to two million people marched to the U.S. Capitol today, carrying signs with slogans such as "Obamacare makes me sick" as they protested the president's health care plan and what they say is out-of-control spending.
The line of protesters spread across Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks, all the way to the capitol, according to the Washington Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.

FreedomWorks Foundation, a conservative organization led by former House of Representatives Majority Leader Dick Armey, organized several groups from across the country for what they billed as a "March on Washington."
Organizers say they built on momentum from the April "tea party" demonstrations held nationwide to protest tax policies, along with growing resentment over the economic stimulus packages and bank bailouts.

Many protesters said they paid their own way to the event - an ethic they believe should be applied to the government.

Today's protests imitated the original Boston Tea Party of 1773, when colonists threw three shiploads of taxed tea into Boston Harbour in protest against the British government under the slogan 'No taxation without representation'.
The group first began rising to prominence in April, when the governor of Texas threatened to secede from the union in protest against government spending. Waves of tea party protests have crossed America since.
Today's rally, the largest grouping of fiscal conservatives to march on Washington, comes on the heels of heated town halls held during the congressional August recess when some Democratic lawmakers were confronted, disrupted and shouted down by angry protestors who oppose President Obama's plan to overhaul the health care system.

An Acorn group(that did not show up of course) had gotten the permit for the grassy area. They did this so that no photos of the hundreds of thousands lining the mall would be taken. It would have busted the illusion they and the media are ‘creating’ of Obama’s ‘almighty power’.
Pay back is gonna be a itch though...as it is going to be my new mission in life to snag their permits the minute I see them ploting and planning their pathetic rallies from now on.
YOU LIE! YOU LIE! YOU LIE!
I’ve been to LSD (Lower, Slower, Delaware) a couple of times this year and doubt that Slow Joe has a great following.
ROTFL! And she’s not even blonde!
There was more than 100,000.
I hear ya on that!
ok, but there wasn’t 2,000,000.....400,000 seems to be the consensus from people there.
...Whating for the head count, Two million, great...
...Of course the MSM will devide it by 100, or 1000, angry radical right wing terrorists storm the Capital Screaming “PURGE THEM ALL!!!”
I have no doubt you’re correct about that. Biden likely gets elected out of places like Newark and Wilmington.
I nominate "Colonial Girl" as a symbol for the rally!
Hell, Fox News is only saying tens of thousands, which is a far cry from UP TO TWO MILLION....so far I have heard nothing persuasive or reliable about the actual head count, unless the two million figure relates to nationwide appearances at usual protest corners and venues.
+++++++++++++++
Here are the various estimates and counts I’ve seen so far. It seems it could be anywhere from about 300,000+. I’m not going to add to the speculation on the plus part - but a FINE showing all!

My guess is about 700-800 thousand. I have been to the mall when the Beach Boys played a free July 4th concert for 600,000 people, and there were definitely more folks there today.

I have worked up there. No matter what the commies over at CNN say, the crowd was at least 1.5 million people; all well behaved Americans of diverse age, gender and origin.

It was close to 1.5 million according to one of the organizers speaking from the podium today. It was a local ABC outlet that put the numbers at 2 million....not the ABC evening news. The locals know how many people were there. It had to be very close to a million at least!

***The line of protesters completely filled Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks, all the way to the capitol, according to the D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.***
1.2 million is a very good estimate.

we will have to see, ABC radio reported the 2m, DC police said 1.5 and closed the roads to buses, head click count at one passway was at 500,000 around 1100am

More or less? I’m GUESSING 200K...maybe a few more.

Well, I was there and I saw around 300,000 at the Capitol end of Pennsylvania Ave. I could not see everybody, so I dont know how many more than that there were. I doubt it was over a million but I could be wrong. It will take some time to get more level headed estimates, but eventually the photos will tell the truth.
My husband was estimating 300-400 thousand and that was before he saw all the people overflowing on both the sides of the Capitol building
That’s a BS number.
Leave it to Homeland Security to have their high speed face recognition scanners running!
There is no way there was even a million people...probably in the neighborhood of 100,000.
++++++++++++
That seems low from the many estimates I’ve seen of people that were there, and just in the click counts referred to in this post:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2338258/posts?page=52#52
There were 25,000 that came in on busses alone, and then all the tens and tens of thousands over the next four hours on the trains.
Coming soon to your doorway...."Got any guns in this heah house?"
Not ALL the party goers were in Washington D.C...
No matter the number in D.C. many parties were in a hundred cities nationwide..
Many could not make the D.C. trip.. for a 100 reasons..
+++++++++++++++++
This is a very good point, and there may have been just as many or more out of DC as in DC...which is GREAT.
I will say, it’s important if the crowd was 200,000 or say 700,000...that’s important. In any case, VERY IMPRESSIVE all.
said the official count from the park service was 60,000.
+++++++++++++
Someone else said the Park Service didn’t make official estimates??
You’re a little low on the estimate.
