It's not comedy, and the comments to the article are great. I'll post the first one. And I suspect there's more than one van Jones hanging out at the White House.

When I first read this column, I thought it must be some kind of satire. And people wonder why no one reads newspapers anymore?

Mr. Patel, Are you serious? Van Jones a patriot? I suppose it depends upon what you believe he's supporting. Certainly not the USA.

Smear campaign? What smear campaign? Van Jones, consistently over his entire career, has had one goal: to tear down the American establishment. The "America" that he serves is not the America that most of perceive and cherish. He sees the USA as a treacherous enemy. Most Americans would regard Mr. Jones in exactly the same way. His own words betrayed him. No one has called him any names that he hasn't already applied to himself -- and with some apparent pride in his positions.

Mr. Jones, like others in similar movements, and even in the White House, lately, fan the flames of discord and hatred, trying to stir up racial and ethnic conflicts, apparently just for the hell of it -- or so that they can declare a "crisis" and rush in with some kind of totalitarian "solution."

It's an old tactic. Remember the Reichstag Fire, anyone? Now the planet is supposed to be burning. Saul Alinsky supplied some new tools, but the goal is always the same: grabbing as much power as you can over as many people as possible.

This man is not a patriot. This is a kook from the leftist fringe, with all the same paranoid fantasies and delusions as those on the far right.

So, good riddance, Mr. Jones. Don't worry -- he won't go broke. If nothing else, he'll hire a bunch of noisemakers from the SEIU's "Purple Ocean" to demonstrate in front of a large corporation, then shake down the executives for some ready cash. Isn't that how it usually works?

It makes me sad and a little sick that Van Jones, the White House Green Jobs Czar, was forced to resign after being targeted by a vicious smear campaign.

Just goes to show you, it's never too early for the left to rewrite history and try and cement irrational lies. Was Van Jones done in by his own words, deeds, and actions, or was he the subject of “a smear campaign”. And by all means, don't let the physical evidence regarding Van Jones sway you in the least, just trust what the corrupt MSM tells you.

Green. Yeah. The worst libtards across the world (not just here in what used to be the good old US of A) are all engaged in environmental, green efforts. That is just a smokescreen because it sounds so good. But it has very little to do with caring for the environment and everything to do with introducing and establishing socialism in the worst way.

Somehow the word “Cuban” got left out of the headline for this piece.

The Left says it is smearing him to quote him and show video of the guy? The Left is officially insane or brain dead. Maybe both.

Everything one needs to know about Eboo Patel, and why his op-eds are trivial and silly:

http://www.pbs.org/wnet/religionandethics/week1033/profile.html

PROFILE: Eboo Patel

BOB ABERNETHY, anchor: In Chicago, a dynamic young Muslim is working to help solve a problem many religious believers have — how to relate to people of another faith tradition. Eboo Patel is an Indian-American, a Muslim, a sociologist, and the founder and leader of the Interfaith Youth Core, active now on some 50 American campuses.

You’re right—the comments refuting the article are great. I also don’t see why such a column was posted in the “Faith” section? (Unless it’s because the WaPo’s faith is in communism and anti-Americanism. . . .)

And the paper wonders why it is going broke.

Each of your points is valid; apparently the author doesn't know what a 'smear campaign' is. So, for the benefit of educating a simpleton, I'll inform him.

Mr. Eboo Patel, a smear campaign is making false statements designed to impune the dignity or honesty of a person. Examples are "Bush Died and people died", or "Blood for Oil" or "Bush is Hitler". There is no evidence of truth in any of these statements, they are designed to impune a person and do damage to them. That is a smear campaign, pretty simple, huh? One would think a credable journalist would learn this in his freshman year, wouldn't you? I mean, I'm not even a journalist and I know that.

Now let's move on. Quoting a person who says some very 'un-American' statements is called "Investigative Reporting". This is something you probably learned in your Senior year; but you were probably too drunk to remember. You see, as a journalist, your job is to discover, dig and publish facts. Some facts you may take a personal joy in sharing, others you may wish you didn't know - but your job is to spread the news, to tell the truth; not push your personal politics. That is the difference between news and propaganda - but I guess you missed that class too.

I hope you can drive a taxi better than you can research and write an article - I think you will need the taxi skills.

I'd point Eboo Patelk to this summation of the Jones Affair:

but I doubt he has the smarts to comprehend it.

There is only one Van Jones.

On, no, Eboola - there are MANY Van Jones, all waiting to take their turn at destroying the economy of the United States and re-making us into some third-world socialist sh*thole, something you're probably very familiar with.
