(CNN) -- Could George W. Bush or some of his top aides end up behind bars?
It's extremely unlikely, but the Obama administration is taking its first steps along a path that could lead in that direction, with the investigation of Central Intelligence Agency interrogators involved in the war on terror.
"You don't know where these things are going to end up," former CIA agent Peter Brookes told me. "They could go to very high levels in the government."
The probe will focus on whether interrogators exceeded their instructions and broke the law when, for example, they choked a prisoner until he lost consciousness or threatened another one with a gun and a power drill.

Not a chance, there are millions of Americans who will come to his defense, armed if need be.
I’m surprised it took this long to get going.
BO’s approval is in the 40’s.
They have nothing to offer so they will try to win by besmirching the right.
These people are pitiful.
The most rabid, committed Leninist I've ever known is a Hollywood screenwriter who has an armory worthy of Ted Nugent. We're talking a few hundred thousand dollars worth of everything and anything you can imagine.
Trust me. They believe in guns. They just don't believe in you and me having them.
Don’t believe that. They just don’t want you to have guns.
They want to wipe us out. This they intend to do. You can fight or cow down.
.... “GWB behind Bars” (we will march on DC first - armed to the teeth)
OTOH - who was the last guy who screwed the CIA? What happened to him.
Then there’s the DC Madam. She hanged herself. Sure she did.
I heard it was delayed depression syndrome stemming from the untimely "suicide" of Vince Foster. Makes sense.

This is one of the Republic of Texas flags - I say come and (try to) take GW - and see what happens !!
Stupidest article (and government) ever.
Based upon your name, I wouild have thought you would remember Van Johnson the actor. Caine Mutiny?
I think you’re right. It all goes back to Vince - and, of course, Hillary.
I would never want to cross the guys over in Virginia. Not a good health plan.
GWB should be behind bars for destroying the Conservative movement — portraying himself as a Conservative and then giving us the Farm Bill, Prescription Drug Bill, attempt at amnesty, bailouts....
Congress went Dem in 2006 because of his out-of-control, and in-no-way Conservative, spending binge. And Zero is in the White House because of him.
But, of all things, GWB should *not* be behind bars for the War on Terror. For that, he gets an A+ in my book.
Thank you for keeping us all safe for eight years, President Bush, and taking the fight where it belongs — to the terrorist scum overseas.
Too bad your domestic policy was almost indistinguishable from Zero’s though. It’s now nigh on impossible to promote Conservatism today when people say, “Well, George Bush was a Conservative, and he did such-and-such.”
Yep, that's where it came from. It was buried somewhere in the deep recesses of my aging mind.
Judging by his track record-—Dubya can cooperate with the dictators, show some compassion to them, backstab some truly conservative leaders (think the Specter endorsement over Toomey) etc.
Amen FRiend!
CWII ping.
These fools are determined to take us down the 3rd World path.
I miss President Bush so much.
He loved our country and he stood strong against terrorism.
This is right out of the handbook of every dictator who ever lived: prosecute the former leaders with trumped up charges in order to show how great and “fair” that you are. We are rapidly going down the same path of 1933 Germany.
