Ted Kennedy, the toothless lion is dead

Ted Kennedy has died after a long battle against brain cancer. While this site - and many Americans - will not mourn this loss, we still extend our condolences to Kennedy's family. Losing a brother, uncle, cousin or friend is never easy and we pray that Kennedy's family will find comfort in their time of sorrow.

With that being said, Kennedy's death drops from the scene one of the more horrific and needlessly glorified politicians of the past forty years. If ANY of his brothers would have outlived him, Ted's political career would have been moribund at best. However, after one brother died in World War II and two were assassinated, it fell to Ted to carry the Kennedy mantle, something that the media was more than willing to help accomplish. Never very bright in his own right, as compared to his brothers, the youngest of Rose and Joseph Kennedy's children went to Washington as a Senator in 1962 and never left. While his first term in Washington was remembered more for him playing the role of mourning brother, the 1969 Chappaquiddick incident involving Kennedy and the death of one Mary Jo Kopechne, forever soured Kennedy to at least half the country, who saw him as nothing more than a murderer. Despite this, Kennedy moved on by being one of the Senate's most liberal members and course, by being a Kennedy.

In 1980, despite Chappaquiddick, Kennedy made his play for the White House by taking on then-President Jimmy Carter in the presidential primaries. Although Kennedy lost, his run set the stage for Carter's defeat and for a time brought back memories of Camelot for those that appreciated such a thing.

Thereafter, with his goal of following his brother into the White House gone, Kennedy continued to serve in the Senate, nine terms in all, became known as the Lion of the Senate and continued his push for more liberal, socialized programs. In between, Kennedy divorced his wife, became a drunk, and from time to time was caught having fun with women who were the age of his children.

For the past decade, Kennedy's main push has been for universal health care, which if passed, he would have been excluded from, but which he had deemed appropriate for the masses. No doubt Kennedy's death will give President Obama one last weapon in his push for ObamaCare. Of course, only with Democratic presidents could one put forth the death of an old, rich, murdering Senator who sought private and experiential treatments to extend his life, and try to make that death a rallying cry for socialized medicine, which would have excluded the type of treatments that Kennedy's sought and received.

Ted Kennedy, RIP

When Richard Nixon died, all the MSM could talk about was Watergate. I’ve yet to hear Mary Jo Kopechne mentioned.

“He was a liberal. That doesn’t make him an enemy.”

To me it does.

The simple truth about this man’s lifelong war on our Constitutional republic is all the ‘eulogy’ he needs.

Shame on you. The man is dead. If you can’t say something polite and sympathetic, than shut up.

Okay. I'm rather pleased with the latest turn of events, and I have great sympathy for the Kopechne family who is about to be dragged through the mud of Kennedy's legacy one more time.

On a more personal note, I hope Mary Jo was waiting for him on the other side and kicked him straight in the 'nads. Hard enough to lift his fat old carcass six inches off the cloud.

...he sure pointed the guns of government at a lot of people who actually were EARNING their wealth instead of inheriting it, and made THEM “care” about the poor.

And that my friend is evil. Plain, naked, smirking evil as Rand so well put it.

Why should we celebrate and eulogize those who would make slaves of us all?

And the disgusting thing about that evil
is that those practicing it actually
consider themselves to be better people
because of their efforts than those who
oppose them.

With all due respect to your service, I can’t entirely agree. A liberal may not be America’s enemy, per se, but we could certainly do with fewer of them. Please don’t misunderstand; I don’t wish them ill. Instead, I wish them wisdom...a quality that so few liberals seem to have, in spite of all their ‘education.’

Michael Skakel was his nephew by marriage (his aunt was married to Bobby Kennedy) so he has no Kennedy blood. Too many real Kennedys around for Skakel to have a chance.

Ted Kennedy lived a good life...

Mary Jo Kopechne was not available for comment.

>>I prefer to think that unrepentant killers wouldn’t end up in heaven.......<<

Me too. But if he DID have a conversion (e.g. Ted Bundy - assuming Bundy was sincere), he was not an unrepentant killer.

I admit it is a BIG “if”.

Chris Dodd is deeply saddened. How do you make a waitress sandwich with one slice of bread?

What he lacks in blood, he makes up for in behavior.

Yep.

I also wore a uniform, for 10 years.

Read your Constitution and the Federalist Papers written to encourage its adoption.

Then read what Kennedy did during his decades in office. He spent most of his evil career harming this country and the Constitution it was built on.

BTW, communicating directly with the KGB to undercut Reagan in 1984 should have got that treasonous bastard a hangman’s noose.

Start it right now. He was the treasonous scion of a criminal family and the world is better off without him.

But remember, we’re all sinners. Wish God’s mercy on his twisted, mangled soul as you would hope for mercy on your soul.

“Socialism hasn’t worked in 6,000 years of recorded history because it didn’t have me to run it.” - Ted Kennedy
And despite all his efforts to the contrary, it never worked in America either. Even with him as the Jackal of the Senate trying his best to implement it. May God have mercy on his soul...but we are better as a nation with him permanenetly out of that position of power and influence.

Now we have Barrack Hussein Obama and his ilk, who will surely try to use the death of this old, corrupt man, to push through the biggest socialization effort in American history - ObamaCare.

We cannot let it happen. Stand firm, speak out, lean into their storm of word and ideologies...and push them back.

I do believe that of the four Kennedy brothers, Teddy definitely got shorted on the brains.

And while we're at it, let's look at JFK and Bobby a little too. JFK, pill-popping whoremaster, let the Cubans down at the Bay of Pigs, failed in the Cuban Missile Crisis, got us into Vietnam and then waffled on that too. As for Bobby... shameless opportunist, worked as a staffer for Joe McCarthy but distanced himself from McCarthy as soon as it was no longer fashionable, got the Attorney General position out of sheer nepotism, and ruthlessly went after shady figures who had actaully helped his brother get elected President, and had the DoJ do domestic spying on MLK, then carpet-bagged a New York Senate seat. Yeah, real heroes.....

I was just thinking how long they had to put the tribute tapes together since they had more than enough advance notice. It is a good thing that I don’t watch news on TV.
