Daily Presidential Tracking Poll -- 0bama now at -14!
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 23 August 2009 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 08/23/2009 6:35:52 AM PDT by ScottinVA

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 27% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14. These figures mark the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President. The previous low of -12 was reached on July 30 (see trends).

Prior to today, the number who Strongly Approved of the President’s performance had never fallen below 29%. Some of the decline has come from within the President’s own party. Just 49% of Democrats offer such a positive assessment of the President at this time.

At the other end of the spectrum, today’s total for Strongly Disapprove matches the highest level yet recorded. The 41% mark was reached just once before and that came one week ago today. Seventy percent (70%) of Republicans now Strongly Disapprove along with 49% of those not affiliated with either major party.

Check out our review of last week’s key polls to see “What They Told Us.” Topics include health care, the deficit, stimulus package, state polls and more.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter and Facebook.

Overall, 48% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-one percent (51%) now disapprove.

I don't either. The only caveat here is that the worse the numbers are for Hussein, the more likely and the closer we get to a new “crisis” - the kind that they do not like to waste.

For instance: what if Hussein brings pressure on two more states to pass a nonbinding resolution calling for a Constitutional Convention? That would make 34 states with such resolutions, and Congress would be forced to call that Convention, wherein the current Constitution is virtually assured to be totally rewritten to enumerate the powers of government, not the people.

Methodology
Rasmussen Reports collects data for its survey research using an automated polling methodology.

Generally speaking, the automated survey process is identical to that of traditional, operator-assisted research firms such as Gallup, Harris, and Roper. However, automated polling systems use a single, digitally-recorded, voice to conduct the interview while traditional firms rely on phone banks, boiler rooms, and operator-assisted technology.

For tracking surveys such as the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll or the Rasmussen Consumer Index, the automated technology insures that every respondent hears exactly the same question, from the exact same voice, asked with the exact same inflection every single time.

All Rasmussen Reports’ survey questions are digitally recorded and fed to a calling program that determines question order, branching options, and other factors. Calls are placed to randomly-selected phone numbers through a process that insures appropriate geographic representation. Typically, calls are placed from 5 pm to 9 pm local time during the week. Saturday calls are made from 11 am to 6 pm local time and Sunday calls from 1 pm to 9 pm local time.

After the calls are completed, the raw data is processed through a weighting program to insure that the sample reflects the overall population in terms of age, race, gender, political party, and other factors. The processing step is required because different segments of the population answer the phone in different ways. For example, women answer the phone more than men, older people are home more and answer more than younger people, and rural residents typically answer the phone more frequently than urban residents.

For surveys of all adults, the population targets are determined by census bureau data.

For political surveys, census bureau data provides a starting point and a series of screening questions are used to determine likely voters. The questions involve voting history, interest in the current campaign, and likely voting intentions.

Rasmussen Reports determines its partisan weighting targets through a dynamic weighting system that takes into account the state’s voting history, national trends, and recent polling in a particular state or geographic area.

I think you're right.

The Holy O's opposition is rising and solidifying at the upper ("strongly disapprove") end of the "disapprove" spectrum while his support is retreating and dissolving to the lower ("strongly approve") end of the "approve" spectrum.

Better yet, his supporters have only half the opportunities that his critics have to poach supporters from the other camp.

Good point.

It has been like that almost all the time in Rasmussen’s tracking poll. What it means is that his support is much more lukewarm than the hard-felt opposition.

Now, remember that Rasmussen is polling likely voters, but who do you think is most likely to go and vote, and who is most likely to try to convince his/her friends to vote, the strongly approve/disapprove or the somewhat approve/disapprove voter?

I will weep for our nation should this happen.

Such a Convention will mean the end of America as we know it -- and our only recourse will pit American against American for the first time since the Civil War. If we are fortunate, at the end of it the spectre of Socialism will at least be gone.

There will be no other way.

I wish I could say I trust Obama to not let such a thing happen...

Let's see the libs spin THIS on the Sunday morning talk shows.

The people are frustrated because they perceive that Obama isn't doing a very good job of getting his agenda passed, particularly health care and cap-and-trade.
