One small thing not being mentioned is whether or not president zero will veto any bill that does not include the provisions hes touting to everyone. Hes talking a good game but that does not mean the final bill will include what zero claims it will do. Since he does not know whats really in any of the health care bills, I do believe he will sign whatever is put in front of him and make excuses for the things that are worst in it.
All the amendments, contents, bloviating, claiming something IS in the bill, claiming something is NOT in the bill, etc., is meaningless rhetoric at this point.
The real issue will be the compromise version and what it does and does not contain.
Dems have already sort of let Pubbies pack the House version with amendments, because Dem leaders expect those Pubbie amendments to be removed from the compromise version.
The compromise bill is the one both chambers will try to push through rapidly, in the wee dark morning hours, before it can be read by the public.
Watch for Reid and Pelosi to pull various tricks:
packing new amendments at the last moment, before the opposition and public have time to read them,
voting on a dummy document with blank pages to be filled in later, or
voting on a representative old version with a trust us content substitution to be done at a later date -- when it gets written.
Watch for the compromise version and the ensuing tricks to get it passed. The compromise version is the one that counts.

I think regardless of final content, the American people, both through public display and polling, have clearly shown they desperately want nothing to do with such legislation.

All true which is why we need to keep trying to stop them in the early stages, which is being done across the country.
I hope everyone realized your post is exactly what the Dems are planning to do.

Tom, if that happens, then I predict all Hell breaking loose. If they think the public is angry now (despite the public spin they put on it as a small group of paid-for-Rightwing extremists), as Reagan said, "You ain't seen nothing yet!"
Part of my hopes they'll do so. It will lead to a public deluge of Congress come November 2010. The only thing that makes me hope they lose now is how terrible this bill or bills are for the nation.

Exactly Tom midnight legislation is how this and most rat bills will be passed that's if they can pass anything at all that resembles what they want, they will.
They will add everything laterthat's how the game is played and no one plays dirtier than the demrats. ..........
I am watching David Gregory go nuts over the reference to El Bozo as Hitler. You just gotta laugh at this assclown. No group has ever gone more ballistic in their protesting over anything and everything from Rodney King to every war we have been in since WW II, to GW over the past 30 years then the demorats and the first time we raise our voices at all, at a town meeting, ohhh.... it's just terrible. The rat double standard is alive and well.
Notice that Gregory has 5 rats and two of us on his fair and balanced panel, that "is" balance in the DBM.
They are all spinning so fast and so blatantly while ignoring what Coburn rightly sees as the big enchilada how the huge cost of everything the Joker adm. has done to the country will plunge us into default and bankrupt the country.,at least Coburn gets it and is willing to raise the topic.
No dem/rat will talk about that since they know it is their political deathnell.
