Dear Freepers, Don't Back a Losing Argument: Just Accept the Fact Obama was born in Hawaii (Vanity)
Self ^ | July 30, 2009 | Edward Watson

Posted on 07/30/2009 8:35:25 PM PDT by Edward Watson

The entire birther argument, that Obama was actually born in Kenya instead of the US, making him ineligible for holding the office of the President of the US, is a spurious argument. It plays into Obama and the liberals hands - they want this to continue since it makes regular conservatives and opponents into fringe wackos.

Not one of us would've looked harder at his legitimacy than Hilary Clinton and the entire Clinton smear machine during the Democratic primaries. That magic bullet would've given Hilary the presidency - and yet nada, bupkis.

There are many valid reasons to oppose Obama and the liberals, but his birthplace isn't one of them.

This business about ex post factoing a born citizenship seems real hokey to me. Seems that Congress could pass a law saying that anybody who had been born anywhere on this planet is an American and it would pass equal muster. Something smells.

Wow, you’re a deep sleeper troll?

I happen to be a lifelong Reagan conservative Republican myself, and like most members of the conservative movement, I am sure Obama was born in Honolulu.

“LOL. Spot on. Has the Kenyan faction of the Birther movement stopped to think about this for a second?”

You OBVIOUSLY did not read my last post to the newbie troll.

“I have no doubt that a certification of birth was obtained
for Obozo.
It is standard procedure for a list of certifications to be
sent to the paper, from the registrars office.
His family had nothing to do with it.
It does not prove anything about his birth.
I never said he was born in Kenya, as I have NO idea where
he was born, and neither do you, because Obozo REFUSES to
release his REAL birth certificate. Why is that?”

That's hilarious ~ didn't catch it but a doctor who says Medicare officials never came down on him is being disengenous and he knows it.

He should have immediately been asked if he's had contact with the USPS Inspector General's office or the Chief Postal Inspector's office. They investigate MAIL FRAUD, (among other things) and that's where they can almost always lay a nasty penalty on a pill pusher or other doctor who engages in fraud or near fraud.

Some of the less intelligent on Free Republic think calling someone a nOOb or newbie think they are a little more intelligent than someone just signing up...Longevity as a poster does not bestow on one more intelligence...Isn't it an old Chinese saying that the one that calls the name first or loses their temper has already lost the debate.:O)

“There is no evidence that Mr. & Mrs. Barrack H. Obama ever lived together, anywhere. And definately did not live at 6085 Kalanianaole Hwy. in Honolulu, Hawaii, ever.”

The fallacy of absent evidence equate to evidence it didnt happen.

And you CANNOT say they ‘definitely did not live’ at that address. All you can say is the birther-central-rag WND found some neighbors who say they cant remember them living there 47 years ago.

Let me tell you something. I had a chinese cook for a room-mate for a month once ... I *NEVER* saw him but once or twice. I only knew he did live there due to the smell of cigarette smoke. I couldnt tell him out of a lineup, forget his name etc. If you ask any neighbor if they remember that guy. I’m sure not a soul would. so what does it prove?

Funny, I just found my birth certificate I got from my state to get a passport a few years back. At the top “Certificate of Live Birth” Got a nice raised seal and color changing seal thingy.

That was in 2003.

I guess I should be deported. Sure do like my passport though. Can I go somewhere with a nice beach?

I personally am not holding my breath over this issue....

but I'm not holding my breath that the truth about TWA800 or Oklahoma city will ever come out....

maybe there all urban myth or legend....

but until zero produces his authentic birth certificate, then the issue is fair game....

why is okay for millions to be "truthers" or to disbelieve the Holocaust or the landing on the moon, yet legitimate questions like a persons place of birth are scoffed at?

The left want you to call “search for truth” a conspiracy! And you oblige. Yet, no one has seen his BC - the conspiracy is on zero’s part, not the conservatives.

I find it funny too. Instead of proof, they call you names. Evidently no one was ever a new poster? Wear the attacks with pride.

“Just what is the point of dropping your ineffective naysaying here, if you’re not going to change anyone’s mind?”

I can’t say for sure I won’t change anyone’s mind. But even if I won’t, argument is a worthwhile pursuit for its own sake.

I might ask you the same question, why do you drop your comments if you aren’t going to convince me? You’d probably respond that you’re not here to address me, that Birther threads are for Birthers, or perhaps that preaching to the choir is fun and healthy. What about my choir? It’s not as if I’m alone. Your whole argument at this point boils down to the fact that your choir is bigger than mine (at least on these threads). I should go find some other thread or site that caters to my viewpoint.

Internet conversations often descend into this pit. “You can’t argue with me because you don’t agree with me.” To a certain point, it’s true. I wouldn’t go to HuffPo, because it’d be completely worthless. But if two conservatives can’t argue, what the heck is the point of FR?

I simply fail to understand the logic of people who say things like “Give it up! You’re wrong” when ...

Well, actually you do understand because it is something all of us encountered directly or indirectly when about six or seven. That's when kids learn that there is no Santa Claus.

Remember? Remember how you HATED the kid from third grade, or the maybe a smart aleck fellow second grader who insisted he or she knew the REAL TRUTH? Fighting words!

* * *

Many of the people normally on our side who have come out so vociferously against us lowly birthers are those who very much need the quite natural human comfort of knowing that everything works right, or is taken care of -- an adult version of Santa Claus as a society and culture and elite governing cohort who never go too wrong, and who are usually right, or at least not too far off.

We Birthers, are out in the wild -- the premise(s) we postulate -- beyond the level of things our disturbed fellows, now come against us find at all tolerable to consider.

Thirty-nine social security numbers? Birth in Kenya? A total fabrication of personal history? -- Such possibilities are the mark of miami street hustlers, russian mobsters and nigerian mail scammers, never a man in the OVAL OFFICE.

The movie "Eyes Wide Shut" covered the psychology a bit. In actual human experience the "break" can be far darker -- far steeper. Sometimes we simply cannot be sane and know and deal with things that actually have happened, or are happening.

To accept any of those things about the President, or a man in serious contention for President of the United States is simply impossible for many.

Just as it is impossible to convince a five year old that there is no Santa Claus.
