Several readers have written over the past few days taking us to task for dismissing so-called birthers as lunatics without bothering to refute their claims. We reluctantly concede their point. The birthers have managed to sow confusion in the minds of some who are not lunatics, and for the latter groups benefit it is worth clarifying matters.

No it wouldn't. You'd just say the document he showed is a fake. Then you'd continue to claim he can't be a natural born citizen because his father wasn't a citizen.
I agree. Couldn’t get past the first two paragraphs.
“The birthers have managed to sow confusion in the minds of some who are not lunatics, and for the latter groups benefit it is worth clarifying matters.”
Ok, we know we can’t call everyone lunatics, so we’ll politely educate the stupid ones.
This is garbage and I’m still trying to wrap my head around why so many on the conservative side is going out of their way to bash us as much as the liberals.
Undressing National Reviews ‘Born in the USA’ Liplock on Obama

Excuse me.
Obama, or his minions, have proffered a jpeg image which would not hold up anywhere for anything. Robert Bartley must be spinning in his grave.
ML/NJ
“The release of the obsolete birth certificate would not resolve the issue to those for whom it is not already resolved. They claim without basis that todays birth certificate is a fake; there is nothing to stop them from claiming without basis that yesterdays is as well.
The president would gain nothing politically for his trouble. By acknowledging the birthers demands, he would lend them a modicum of credibility. By ignoring them, he actually reaps political benefits from their efforts. His critics, even those who are not birthers, end up looking like cranks by association. His supporters use the birthers to paint Obama foes as racist—which is probably unfair even to the birthers, as we argued Tuesday, but that doesnt mean it isnt effective.”
Clearly there is a very good reason not to show it.
Simply, Obama does not benefit from showing it. And he benefits from concealing it.
For all I know they are waiting for the next election cycle hoping that this BC thing gets legs, then they'll trot out the formal and certified documents in the weeks before the election. The MSM will crow about what a bunch of dummies all those conservatives are. You get the idea.
“CNN has reported—or rather, CNN executive Jon Klein reported to staffers in an email that others reported—that the obsolete paper certificates were destroyed when the department switched to electronic record-keeping. Kleins information appears to have been in error. The Honolulu Advertiser reported yesterday that Okubo and her boss, Chiyome Fukino, both confirm that Obamas original birth certificate still exists. Fukino says she has seen it and that the information matches the now-official electronic records reflected on the certificate Obama has released.”
OK. Now let’s ALL see it...see how easy this is?
“I know. I’m just posting it here so that the world sees not all Freepers are fruitcakes.”
Pingy ping to all the fruitcakes as ‘curiosity’ would like to believe.
Actually, it's helping him, but you can't see it because you refuse to look at the evidence objectively.
Nothing will convince a true believer like you, nothing. I feel very sorry for you.
Jesus Christ Himself could appear on the Rush Limbaugh show telling people to drop this nonsense and there would be those on this site claiming He had drank the kool-aid.
I didn’t get interested in this issue until I saw the way the Obamists were avoiding it, and the stream of invective focused toward anyone who asked what is really a simple question. I assumed at the beginning that it was a Hillary thing.
It may have been a Hillary thing, but the way the Obamists have responded to it is fascinating.
Its a very simple request and all the dancing and all the blustering doesn’t change the fact that its a very simple request and the more he sends out his flacks to muddy the water the more interested I am in seeing whats behind the curtain.
So, I won’t be satisfied until I see the document. And hear the answer to the question, what citizenship did you claim in college. Easy as pie.
What would you have him do? Mail a hard copy to you personally?
This is my first comment on the matter so no one can say I’ve been obsessed with this. That being said, I don’t see what is wrong with asking the President to release his long form BC and other college info. If someone wants to be President so bad, they understand the anal exam of their past that they’re going to get. I guess some can label me now but that’s how I feel.
I’ll settle for a jpeg issued by the state of Hawaii.
Oh, and an answer to that question, what citizenship did he claim in college.
You know, that reminds me of a confrontation I had with a feminist many years ago regarding a person who had been falsely accused of rape. "Women who are raped never lie about it!" she cried. To which I replied, "Yes, and what about women who haven't been raped?"
Moreover, this flap about Obama's eligibility doesn't comprise a conspiracy theory, because it doesn't really involve a conspiracy--it involves stonewalling by one man who clearly has something he wants to hide.
