GOP Politicians Pandering to Birthers
Little Green Footballs ^ | July 22, 2009 | Charles Johnson

The insane conspiracy theory called the “Birther movement” is gaining support among Republican politicians. Now there’s actually a bill sponsored by Republicans that panders to these nuts. I hate it when I agree with Chris Matthews, but he’s right on this issue — this madness is embarrassing, self-destructive, and above all mind-bogglingly schtoopid.

And it’s spreading.

Why does it have to be a federal law?

Any state passing a requirement for proof of eligibility to get on their ballot would be enough.

If Hussein refused to do so in that state, he not only doesn’t get the electors, but he sure makes an admission that he’s not eligible.

I agree. I think that would be a fine way to go.

>>> “Either prove he isn’t from Hawaii or drop this.”

This is the mantra that got me thinking about this...

Originally I thought the Zero BC thing might just be PR designed to “stir up” our guys on the right and get them motivated.

But...

This common theme “Either prove he isn’t from Hawaii or drop this.” has me thinking this might be for real. The blatant idiocy of that logic is just enormous. All the man has to do is show his f-—ing BC. Sh-t man... I had to do it before I joined the military, and I had to do it when I was hired at my civilian job. WE shouldn’t have to prove a f—king thing, it should already be in the public record. The fact that it isnt and that dirty di—os are running around hyperventilating while screeching “Either prove he isn’t from Hawaii or drop this.” just lends legitimacy to the issue.

On the other hand...

Even if it IS for real that this jackass doesn’t meet this basic qualification to be president, do NOT make it the “centerpiece” of our discontent. Efforts should be made to continue the propagation of this BC thing ***BUT***, make sure it remains where it belongs on our priority of issues. Its a tool for agitation... Thats it.. At least for now...

Stay focused on the states and pushing them towards REAL sovereignty. Keep pushing for further state laws that restore freedom to the people of that state. There are a lot of important and critical things that need to be done along the way to taking back our freedom from the marxist fedgov.

DO NOT take the bait that is being offered... DO NOT make this THE issue... NOW is the time to start HAMMERING the other BIGGER issues that further reveal the marxists in the fedgov.

I suppose B.O.'s mom and dad knew he was going to be President of the US one day so they had them publish this announcement the year of his birth.

Of course they did! :)

Then the GOP leadership should tell the citizenry to shut up, because the shrapnel is hitting the GOP, not DEMs.

Great idea. That way they'll get booted out of office a lot sooner than if they continue to pretend they're on board with that whole "we the people" and "representive republic" stuff.

DO NOT make this THE issue...

I don't think this ever was or will be THE issue. It is just one of a litany of issues regarding Obama, his radical views, anti-American sentiments, racist core, leftist & terrorist friends, murky past, and disregard for everything that has been & should be American.

There isn't any reason we can't continue to request real birth location proof and still fight his agenda. It all goes together, and it can be done calmly, maturely, and effectively.

Pick your poison. You can’t win elections without the middle of this country, independents like myself. I’m conservative, but I left the GOP many years ago because there were to many RINOs or fringe people in the party.

At the end of the day, it’s about winning elections. If you can’t win elections, you have no power. The GOP can push this and make themselves look like a party that has nothing to stand on and is trying to push a crazed idea that the guy wasn’t born in the USA.

Or, the GOP can squash these ridiculous conspiracy notions and focus on crushing the Donkeys because the Dems ideas are stupid, destructive, liberal, etc. I’ll go for the latter.

Agreed.

I just worry that some will begin to push this over the top and make it the defining issue. Thus my plea to slow down and think about it.

This issue has its place but it needs to stay in its place, that is the only way its going to remain an effective catalyst for agitation.
