Poll: Majority of Republicans don't think Palin's qualified for prez Posted: 11:53 AM ET

(CNN) — A majority of Americans think Sarah Palin is stepping down as Alaska's governor for political reasons, according to a new national poll, with a majority of Republicans now saying that they do not believe that Palin would be an effective president.

Only 33 percent of Republicans questioned in a CBS News survey released Monday night say that Palin would have the ability to serve effectively as president. Last fall, 71 percent of registered Republicans felt that way.

"It's unclear whether the change in Republicans' view of Palin is the result of her decision to step down as governor, or whether the GOP rank-and-file felt they had to defend their party's vice-presidential nominee during the campaign but don't feel the same tug of party loyalty today," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "Either way, this is bad news for Palin, whose first task in 2012, if she runs for the White House, will be to convince Republican primary voters to support her."

Fifty-two percent of all respondents in the CBS survey said that Palin is resigning because she thinks its better for her political career, with one in four agreeing with Palin's comments that her resignation would benefit Alaska. Most Democrats and independents feel Palin's resignation is politically motivated, while Republicans appear divided, with 36 percent indicating the move is to advance her political career and 31 percent agreeing with Palin's explanation.

"That's another indication that Palin may face a skeptical GOP primary audience if she chooses to run for president," Holland says.

I was talking to a prominent reaganite conservative blogger, via email, who did not like Palin and she gave me the reasons. Palin can turn this around by addressing those issues and she has time to do this. However, to claim that this poll is bogus is an emotional reaction not grounded.

It’s going to be fun watching the Palin juggernaut slam through America leaving all these apparatchiks in her wake.

Oh, and go Romney! /s

She is certainly a helluva lot more qualified than the marxist quisling.

Majority of Republicans don't think Palin's qualified for prez

Concrete proof, once again, that it is conservatives who will ultimately rescue this great nation; and that it will simply have to be done over the cold, rotting (political) corpus of the Republican party.

Like we didn't know that already.

I’m not sure it matters whether she is qualified for the presidency as long as she isn’t running. To date I don’t think she’s indicated that is her intent. It would seem to go against her purposes to get her family out of the daily spotlight and let her focus on other things such as promoting her ideas of conservatism and limit gov’t.

As the messiah falls to earth like a blazing piece of space junk, CNN is taking a presidential poll on Palin? I may be unemployed soon, but it may be worth it just to watch all of the progressives scurrying in panic to duct tape the one back together after the crash. These must be the same Republicans (in the poll) that launched McCain out of Florida and on to victory.

Sarah Palin would be such a refreshing change in DC! Sarah Palin is hated by the left because she dares to be more woman than most women and more man than most men especially the lispy lawyer!

Do you really, really believe these numbers with the crowds she is drawing when she speaks? I would say this poll is full of baloney. Go Sarah.

Short-term, I think her role should be to replace Steele (either actually or by function of rallying Republicans) and implement the following plan for 2010:

-Get a Newt-like “smart guy/gal”, but one who can keep his pants on.
-Gov Palin-like but with more national experience (an organized speaking tour would help).
-Gov Palin-like that will take on the national-level GOP establishment in a sane way.
-A 1994-like nationalized campaign plan for ALL open House and Senate seats in 2010, but you need to have a plan.
-A Republican version of Rahm Emanuel or Tom "The Hammer" Delay but more charismatic to ramrod Conservative issues based on the national theme
-A Reaganesque public orator/communicator.
-A plan to discredit Barry without sounding wacko or shrill, and to have fun with doing so – they HATE being laughed at, but it sure flusters them.

CNN can take their poll and flush it down the toilet. Gov. Sarah Palin will be the next President and she will bring back American Glory as Ronald Reagan did during his presidency.

Gee, a CNN poll, who would have guessed it came out against Palin?/SAR

The SRM is so predictable. I could almost write their stories for them just knowing how they think.

Yep... They usually good something like:

How would your rate Obama’s job as president so far?

A. Wonderful
B. Really really good
C. I heart Obama
D. I am still in starstruck euphoria

Then they write an article on the results.
....and they do it with a straight face.
