So youve all seen and kept up with the latest happenings on Sarah, right? A lot of people in the media and the blogosphere declared her resignation bizarre, and a lot of others thought that, frankly, she was insane. Even many of Palins supporters were puzzled by this decision at first. Why would this woman, who was doing perfectly well building her resume and experience as governor of Alaska, abruptly resign?
It makes a lot more sense now. A few days ago, Palin scheduled a press conference, and none other than ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, Time, and countless other media outlets showed up. Today, an article came out in which Texas Governor Rick Perry declared that Palin would do campaigning for him, and following the declaration was a media frenzy. Palins people arent stupid; they know shes a draw. They know that, at any time, at any place, and for any reason, Palin can kick up a storm in the media. It barely matters that Palin is the victim of all kinds of criticism and second guessing: by staying in the news media day and night, by plastering her beautiful face all over the news programs and papers, Palin will become a household name.
Look, Palin has already proved that she can draw the adoration and votes of most of middle America. She did well among men, and, with a little more familiarity, shes sure to do well with women. It doesnt matter what the pundits and the talking heads say; what matters is the final vote count in November, 2012. Palin is a draw; she knows this, her handlers know this, and Americans know this. Only the media doesnt seem to know it, but even they are unknowingly boosting Palins appeal.
Its been proven in the last election cycle that its dangerous to second-guess Palin. In 2008, it was McCains campaign staff, in a weak and pathetic thrust at bi-partisanship, that held her back from saying what she really meant. All of the reports that came out stated that McCains people had all sorts of gag orders on Palin, and in addition were feeding her dozens of conflicting sets of talking points to give the media. Now that Palin has cut loose from Alaska, she has gained not only a national stage, but also the freedom and independence to convey her real personality to all of America for the next three years.
I hope you’re right, I’m betting the Democrat/media complex will find a slogan to repeat over and over that will help everyone remember.......the way they want them to remember.
Hey all I know is I love Sarah! The more I see and hear her, the more I love her, if that was even possible to love her more.
I know 2ndDivisionVet and millions more feel the same way.
Spot on, I’d say. Her ability to draw thousands to rallies and speeches will make Sarah Palin the hottest commodity during the 2010 election cycle. Give her 12-18 months to get her book out and make a few million dollars to provide security for her family, all the while feeding the base the raw meat we are so hungry for, then we’ll see how things look for 2012. My bet is these same invertebrate slime who are badmouthing her now will be first in line, begging for her to come on these crappy shows and give them interviews.
Maybe before long Crissie the sissy won’t be the only one with thrills running up his leg!
I'd be curious to know if those old guys had any qualms about voting for a black(ish) man instead. I can't imagine that an old white Republican man would shun a woman, but then turn around and vote for a minority. I guess they figured the "black" was the lesser of two evils? Pathetic. I hope they are ashamed of themselves and feel like crap (like the rest of us!), now that they are seeing what their Obama vote has wrought.
And anyway, John McCain will never die. They would have had nothing to worry about in voting for McCain/Palin.
I agree not too sure about Perry.......however, if she helps him and I’m any where close....I’ll go see her.
I don’t think that Sarah even knows what she’ll do. As she walks it....she’ll figure it out.
I was going to respond to Shadowstrike until i saw your reply. Took the words right out of my fingers!
"I heard Sarah Palin announcing her resignation from the Alaska governorship, I thought of Richard Nixon.
In 1960, he was cheated out of the presidency when Chicago Mayor Richard Daley stuffed enough ballot boxes to give Illinois to Kennedy, and Kennedy's running mate Lyndon Johnson did the same in Texas. In 1962, Nixon ran for governor of California and lost to Democrat Pat Brown by 300,000 votes.
His career was finished, and there wasn't a politician nor a pundit in the country who didn't say so. He was washed-up, held no political office, and was under constant attack by a media that reviled him. Yet six years later he was elected president in 1968. How did he do this?
The same way Sarah Palin can be elected president in 2012.
He traveled abroad to meet with numerous world leaders and wrote articles for prestigious journals like Foreign Affairs. But that was window dressing. After Barry Goldwater's disastrous defeat by Lyndon Johnson in 1964, he spent most of 1965 and 1966 speaking at scores of fundraisers for Republican House and Senate candidates all over the country.
He did this tirelessly, indefatigably, and his national fame drew local donors to the fundraisers in droves.
The millions Nixon raised at these fundraisers enabled the GOP to gain 47 House seats plus three in the Senate in '66. He had single-handedly resuscitated the Republican Party. He articulated Republican positions better than anyone in the party - and most important, dozens of Republicans in Congress owed their seats to him.
Their support in state after state enabled him to sweep the primaries in spring '68 and the nomination was his.
History doesn't repeat itself, but as Mark Twain said, it often rhymes - and it will be rhyming for Sarah Palin from now to November 2012."
Lol. Great minds think alike!! :o)
GREAT line!
“I think a lot of people are just making crap up as they go along...I know I do.”
LOL.
I think it may be the opposite. She has three straight years of campaigning and causing trouble for the leftists. The big picture is, if she can campaign for folks to take back the house and the senate in 2010, she will be unbeatable by any current Dem in 2012.
Back her play and stop worrying about electable or not. Look at her fan page on facebook.
The woman inspires.
Flanking the DNC and RNC? True enough. The knifes are out for her at The RNC too. Huck,Mitt,Newt and the rest are not thrilled. Personally I think that she is not sure she is running yet. But free of the governors office she is able to entertain alot of options. One follows God’s leading day by day. If she gets the message one day, She’ll not be coy like most others are..... No need to be the front runner this far out.
I think she honestly hasn’t decided. And there’s no need for her to do so soon. Everything she is going to do through 2010, writing a book, touring, media interviews, speaking engagements, fundraising and apearences for cosntiveritive candidates and causes, all puts her in a good position to enter the race in 2011. If not, she will be financially secure, and still a leading conservative voice in America, with all her options open in the future.
I agree. We could have had a Black president years ago, but everybody thought Keyes' passion indicated that he was "nuts," so they laughed him off the stage, in spite of his erudition, his Constitution-based patriotism, his pro-life stand, and other fine qualifications. It's sad that we have to have a trainwreck before people realize the tracks were twisted.
But Keyes and Sarah Palin have a lot in common politically, as well as in terms of their character. They are both absolute, true-blue patriots who know a lot more about what's going on than people are willing to give them credit for. They are both "dark horses."
Time will tell. I believe Gov. Palin made the right decision with her resignation, and I believe that she is a suitable candidate for the Presidency. Whether that run will be in 2012 or 2016 is up to her. She will be a force to reckon with in either event. But, in the meantime, she is gathering information, support, and funds for whatever she decides to do from now on. And, she STILL doesn't need anybody to tell her what she has to do to make herself more "acceptable" as a candidate; she was already on that path. But the pundits will all jump up and down trying to claim credit for giving her the "tips" and "suggestions" that they believe will make her "viable" as a candidate.
