Palin-bashing CPAC/ACU Chair donated $2,000 to Arlen Specter, endorsed Romney

David Keene, the Chairman of the American Conservative Union trashed Sarah Palin publicly today on NewsMax. However, a quick search of Mr. Keene's recent political contribution history reveals the following:

David Keene, Managing Associate of the Carmen Group Lobbying Firm, and Head of ACU, Alexandria, VA.

Political contributions in 2008 election cycle:

KEENE, DAVID, ALEXANDRIA,VA 22314 THE CARMEN GROUP/EXEC 5/1/07 $1,000 Specter, Arlen (R)

KEENE, DAVID, ALEXANDRIA,VA 22314 THE CARMEN GROUP/EXEC 12/19/07 $800 Specter, Arlen (R)

KEENE, DAVID, ALEXANDRIA,VA 22314 THE CARMEN GROUP/EXEC 12/19/07 $200 Specter, Arlen (R)

What I want to know is, how does a guy like this get to be the chairman of the ACU? Has the American Conservative Union turned into the American Liberal Republicans Who Are Now Democrats Union when we weren't looking? Apparently so.

That said, if I were Sarah Palin, I'd take this guy's advice and toss it in the bin with the rest of the fish guts.

However, most people who supported Romney are not attacked for being naive, but for being liberals, because calling a conservative liberal is a much more satisfying attack.

That's because if you don't know Romney is a crypto-lib by now, you're either a fool or a crypto-lib yourself.

That's my position.

I’m glad I didn’t spend a ton of hard-earned money on CPAC this year. Mr. Keene has gotten too big for his britches. He’s toast.

Keene founded ACU. He owns it.

I have no other knowledge about Keene’s views on the issues

As I said on the other thread I have known Keene since 1965. In 1968 he opposed Ronald Reagan's nomination for President. In 1980 he opposed Ronald Reagan's nomination for President.

RaceBannon posted a thread about Keene's weakness on Middle East issues.

Conservative Union Founder Is Not Ousted Over Sexuality

Seems to me that the ACU isn't what it appears to be after all. I can't believe I took these guys seriously for this long.

I also knew Bob Bauman and Buz Lukens, who were the co-Chairmen of Youth for Goldwater for President in 1964 and were two Ronald Reagan surrogates in 1980. Unfortunately they both had sexual scandals, Bauman with a boy page and Lukens with a girl prostitute. It was particularly egregious in Bauman’s case since he was married to Carol Dawson Bauman a founder of YAF and editor of the YAF magazine.

I put it all under the word “Trashed”, you may disagree.

When Gretchen Carlson says Sarah Palin was rambling in her recent speech, and speaks in past tense about how she supported Sarah Palin because she was a woman, I call that trashing .

Rick Santorum last night came on with Gretta and said he was very disappointed in Sarah. He said his wife was very disappointed in Sarah. He basically said she was finished. Gretta showed him the polls where 72% of Republicans would vote for her, he said bla bla bla should be 90%. I do not remember every word, it was just very negative. YES I call it trashing.

Is the ACU =the American Conservative Union=WHAT? What is Ilt? I have never heard of it. And as for CPAC...it makes me SICK to think that this Keene character has influence there.

My gosh...folks..we have a big job ahead of us...we have a lot of house cleaning to do and a lot of information to spread.

I never thought the enemy within would reach to the Rinos. But is has and it is....ie..MARK KIRK want to run on a republican ticket for senator from Michigan when he just voted for that HORRENDOUS CAP AND TRADE BILL???? HUH??? Is he nuts? Let's clean house!

Please never take me off the Palin link. Sink or swim, I am with her totally. Pretty is only a bonus to her politics and her clear mind well spoken without any stupid teleprompters, like Zer0 or Plugs.

I haven’t heard from Keene (dull) since his “loyal Republican” friend Arlo Specter switched. I wonder if he can even speak with all that egg plastered on his face.

Maybe this has been already stated, but remember when Sarah Palin canceled out of CPAC (maybe to avoid another “ethics investigation”). That may have been the genesis of this hit piece. A quote from the Newsmax interview.

“She confirmed that she will be speaking to CPAC in person,” Keene says. “Then her office said she was going to be there, they were just working out the logistics. Then all of a sudden she couldn’t be there. At the last minute she was going to do a videotape. We don’t usually do that, but we said OK. Then it turned out they couldn’t get the videotape done, they couldn’t figure out how to do it or something. And so she just didn’t come.”

Pretty childish reaction I'd say.

If that's the case, then Rick Santorum can go *bleep* himself. I'm sorry I ever sent the guy a dime or supported him.
