Did a Scandal Sink the U.S.S. Palin?
The Daily Beast ^ | July 4, 2009 | Max Blumenthal

CNN and other major news outlets have reported that Sarah Palin has abruptly resigned as governor of Alaska. The suddenness of her announcement raises the question about whether Palin resigned to avert a major scandal. One logical place to start looking is the affair that has Alaska political circles buzzing: an alleged scandal centered around a building contractor, Spenard Building Supplies, with close ties to Palin and her husband, Todd.

Many political observers in Alaska are fixated on rumors that federal investigators have been seizing paperwork from SBS in recent months, searching for evidence that Palin and her husband Todd steered lucrative contracts to the well-connected company in exchange for gifts like the construction of their home on pristine Lake Lucille in 2002. The home was built just two months before Palin began campaigning for governor, a job which would have provided her enhanced power to grant building contracts in the wide-open state.

SBS has close ties to the Palins. The company has not only sponsored Todd Palin's snowmobile team, according to the Village Voice's Wayne Barrett, it hired Sarah Palin to do a statewide television commercial in 2004.

Though Todd Palin told Fox News he built his Lake Lucille home with the help of a few "buddies," according to Barrett’s report, public records revealed that SBS supplied the materials for the house. While serving as mayor of Wasilla, Sarah Palin blocked an initiative that would have required the public filing of building permits—thus momentarily preventing the revelation of such suspicious information.

Just months before Palin left city hall to campaign for governor, she awarded a contract to SBS to help build the $13 million Wasilla Sports Complex.

I don’t believe this to be true, but it’s important to know what’s being floated out there.

Who once claimed that “Money was the root of all evil”?
Would argue otherwise.
Speculation should be categorized somewhere in that “root of all evil” equation.

One logical place to start looking is ...

Tell ya what -- why don't you start looking. But why don't you hold off on the whole "reporting" thing until you have some verified facts? Journalists today just go on rumor, innuendo, and "some folks say". They have no concept that people are actually looking for information. That's why journalism is dying.

This is the same government that could not make the connections between the Zero, Rezko et al, or Dodd and Countrywide or any of a host of other problems? Seems unpolitical of course. Right.

And so it begins....
Now that Sarah’s gone rogue big time they’ll go def con 1.
They cannot so much as leave a scrap of her, lest it clone itself.
Their fear is reaching an all time hysterical level. Much akin to vampires and garlic.
Can anyone here recall such a panic in the political realm?
I can’t and I’m 50.

Oh, Brother!

It’s going to be bad ENOUGH putting up with three and a half more YEARS of the Poser in Chief, but now we have to put up with the continuing slander of Sarah & Company?

The Left and the MSM is afraid. They are VERY afraid.

BTW, did anyone hear that Michael Jackson died? No? His death was displaced by news of Sarah’s resignation? Well...

Since they don’t have President Bush to kick around anymore, and they certainly can’t let any of us out here in the hinterlands KNOW what 0bama is up to on a daily basis, they need a whippin’ boy...and Sarah is it.

Another destroy Sarah Palin article. When you post destructive articles about Gov. Palin, could you please put something in the title that tells us you are posting negative information? Then I can easily skip your post and go on to a common sense article. Yes it is definitely a person request. Thank you.

Let's see...she has been Governor of Alaska, VP Candidate, mother to a down syndrome, mother to an unwed teen, a son in the war, and almost constant 24/7 scrutiny by the media for the past year...yeah...sure...she had time for an affair too.... /sarcasm off.

He said it was reported on "CNN"...so I'm guessing this basement blogger just assumes if CNN reports anything about Palin, it has to be something slanderous.

Gee, DID PALIN FIRE AN INSPECTOR GENERAL BECAUSE OF ONE OF HER SUPPORTERS ?
Are we seeing 200 times more the “Vetting” by the state run media on Palin, than we have EVER seen on Obama ?

Obama has his skeletons hidden, His grades at Columbia and Harvard, his COB, His admissions to College as Barry Soreto and possibly emitted as a foreign student.....?

I think Sarah will come out swinging, I’ll put her 15 ethics dismissals up against Barry’s unknowns and unresearched “Items” for which the State run Media hands out a free pass.

Any political observers in Washington fixated on the actual proof that Zero steered lucrative ownership in private business and unprecedented access to union bosses in exchange for campaign donations???

Amazing. As the weeks and months unfold, it will be interesting if Palin comes right out and says, "I'm a private citizen. I'm not an elected official anymore. I'm not a declared candidate for any office. I'm just a US citizen, traveling the country and talking to people. And yet I am followed by investigative journalists 24/7. Has anyone ever given President Obama that kind of scrutiny? Does this seem like we living in a police state?"

CNN seems interested is spreading this rumor....would have been nice had they been interested in vetting candidate Obama.

I have some questions...like, where was he born? How’d he get into the Ivy League? Was it affirmative action? What drugs did he take in college? Did he sell drugs? How/why did his wife get a $100,000 per year pay increase after his state senate committee found $2 mil for her hospital? What was Rezko’s role in his mortgage...$2 million dollar home on the pay of a state senator? What water did Obama carry for the Daley machine? Why is nobody interested in this stuff?

Funny who gets investigated isn’t it?
