Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is expected to announce Friday that she will not seek a second term, a Republican source close to Palin tells CNN.

Palin has scheduled a 3 p.m. ET news conference at her home in Wasilla. The governor’s office offered no further details about the subject of the news conference, but the sources tells CNN that Palin will announce her decision to forgo another run.

I listened to her speech again today—Palin is very impressive, she really stands out compared to almost all other politicians.

THE battle between Levi Johnston (above) and Sarah Palin isn’t over yet. Johnston — best known for impregnating the former vice-presidential candidate’s daughter, Bristol — “is shopping a book,” his bodyguard/publicist, Tank, tells New York magazine.

And it seems the book will focus on the Wasilla, Alaska, political family. “There are still many untold stories about the Palins,” he said. Until the tell-all is released, though, Johnston is considering “a leading role” in a movie and a possible upcoming TV “docu-drama.”

Carl on FOX said she has had to turn down hundreds of talking engagements that would a paid considerably more than the 100,000 she was getting as gov. That and she'll now have time to finish the book and get it to the presses faster.

Yes, it looks like she has. This is nothing but good for her once the initial "quitter" nonsense dies down.

Anyone staying in any job that costs you over half a million dollars in debt, especially just to keep up appearances of not being a "quitter," is insane. Sarah would easily be criticized for that, too.

You can't blame her for leaving a position that could eventually put her over $750,000 in politically inflicted, unfair personal debt by the end of it. She owes the people of AK nothing since she is relinquishing power peacefully and legally.

Sorry to disagree with your mandate for those desiring the Presidency but perhaps it pays to put yourself in Sarah's shoes for just a moment.

1.Sarah Palin has a new baby with downs syndrome, other needy children including a 17 year old with a baby of her own who is being savaged almost as much as her mom. Being a mom to her family is at least part time if not full time.

2. She just got a book deal rumored to be in the 7 figure range or even higher( the rats on c-spam this morning declared it was 8 figures but that's to be expected)so she definitely has a book to write--which is at least a part time job if not full.

3. She has a pac and aside from what we are reading here and there Sarah still has political ambitions! She will be running for President! That's at least a part time job if not full.

4.She will now be free to give speeches and finally make the money she deserves. This clears her from any impropriety that almost every other elected official with an "r" behind their name has,are they taking govt. money while campaigning or doing personal business. She won't have that taint for some time. Giving speeches helping others running in the party and campaign is at least a part time job if not full.

So many here want her to remain as Gov. just so she has a title which will do nothing but drag her down over the next year and a half. Is that a wise move? Sarah thought not and I agree with her and support her even more than I did before.!!
