We’re n ot talking about some Hollywood celeb here, we’re talking about the governor of a state and a man who potentially could be the leader of the free world four years from now. Also, we’re not talking about knowing all his “comings and goings” we’re talking about him dropping off the face of the Earth for four days.
I’m betting if we had a thread about some factory worker who disappeared from his job for four days, you wouldn’t say it was none of his employer’s business that he was off the job without notice. Do our government overlords get some sort of special pass?
I’ve seen nothing but conflicting stories from the moment this came out. I know both he and Palin are the biggest targets for 2012 by the media, and frankly, they will just drag up or make up anything to derail them, and too many of us will simply BELIEVE what they write. We cannot and should not pass judgment here until we know exactly what happened. From my own gut, the first time I saw this, it appeared to be a non-story. The media loves to see the GOP cannibalize itself, it’s just so easy to do it.
I’ll add I don’t serve as an apologist for our pols, if our guys screw up for real, I go after them. There’s only a rare amount of GOP leaders I have any respect for for standing on principle and doing what’s right, and that’s Sanford.

You are making a lot of assumptions. How old are his children? Who really knows whether his wife knew or not? I suspect she did otherwise she would have been more concerned. If Sanford’s chief of staff knew where he was, I can be fairly confident so did his wife, especially after the MSM made a big story out of it and Sanford had to curtail the trip.
Most people find the idea of a married person going on vacation without their spouse for a week a little odd,unless it is part of some known,organized activity the spouse doesn't want to join, such as climbing a mountain.
At the very least such vacations open one to temptation and speculation.

The "get away" for a while (an afternoon, NOT 5 days!) thing I can understand. It's the not telling *anyone* (for 5 whole days) thing I find highly disturbing.

Personal matter or not, he is an elected official with a 24/7 job paid by the taxpayers. So his wife and everyone on his team was out to ruin him too? I don’t need the MSM to tell me this guy is irresponsible.
