All I see is another SLEAZY media attack on our best and brightest over a NON-story... and FReepers who take the bait and join in on the bash. Doesn’t speak well to them.
well you can shrug, but a politician with aspirations for higher office has to be savvier than to pull some stunt like this and thereby hand his political opponents plenty to use against him. i am neither a sanford-hater, nor an idiot, this is just stupidity on his part.
Sanford said he decided not to return via the Columbia airport to avoid the media. The State Media Company was the only media who greeted Sanford this morning.
I suspect that his chief of staff notified The State, the biggest paper in SC, so that Sanford could address the brouhaha and do it without a hoard of reporters yelling questions at him in the airport.

According to the lt gov, a ‘Rat IIRC, he didn’t know where Sanford was, either.
I wouldn’t say it was impeachable. Presidents go out of the country all the time without transferring power. As long as he were reachable within a reasonable period of time, which he was, not a big deal.
The way it has been handled, however, is very damaging to him.

It isn’t important that you and I know where he is at all times. It is imperative that HE knows where he is at all times.
I thought the wife said that he was off writing something for his kids. The initial reports made it seem she was unconcerned.

well what i see is political naivete on the part of sanford that he thinks that he can do stuff like this, knowing [or NOT, which is worse] that it could be and was used against him, to make him look flaky or up to no good. i had no feelings about sanford one way or the other before this, i take everything the media says with a box of salt, but the objective facts of this excursion of his make me skeptical of him. we had ensign show his clay feet last week, so any crap like this [away from his family/sons on Fathers day is a huge red flag to me, personally] makes me suspicious.

Exactly. When it comes to negative stories on our people, I don’t condemn based on “media reports” until I know the facts and hear from THEM. It’s a shame so many so-called FReepers believe whatever the media tells them.

Oh come on now. Someone with presidential aspirations wouldn’t tell their wife to tell everyone that she doesn’t know where her husband is during a solo vacation. Over Father’s Day? Away from his children?
Sanford needs to explain all this, and soon.
