Two recent public opinion surveys released in Israel and the United States demonstrate that the campaign by President Obama and members of his diplomatic team to criticize and isolate Israel over the issue of settlements in the West Bank is having an impact in both countries.
In Israel, a survey sponsored by the Jerusalem Post revealed a stunning result: just 6% of Israeli Jews now regard the U.S. president as pro-Israel. Another 86% regard Obama as either pro-Palestinian (50%) or neutral between the two parties (36%). No American president has ever been viewed in Israel this way, and it has taken but five months for the Israelis to come to understand the new reality in U.S.-Israeli relations — that the special relationship and friendship between the two countries has ended, at least at the level of the U.S. president and his administration.....
During the campaign, there was concern among some liberal Jews about Obama’s history and long friendship with people hostile to Israel such as Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Professor Rashid Khalidi, Ali Abunimah, and Samantha Power. To counter this, the campaign rolled out a chorus line of Chicago Jews who could swear for Obama’s bona fides as to his love for both Israel and the Jews. For most liberal Jews, Israel is an issue — but not the issue. Abortion rights, separation of church and state, stem cell research, universal health care, saving the planet — these issues are what ignite real political passion for many liberal Jews, not support for Israel.....

People have to wake up and realize the Obama Kool-Aide is turning out to be the same flavor as the Jim Jones Kool-Aide.
American Jews are idiots. They are the ones that formed the unions. They are the ones that shaped Liberal America. They are the ones that still show that self guilt in the face of destruction.
I can say that. I am an American Jew and this morning I am embarrassed. Israel has shown more support for the Iranian people than our own President.
There seems to be a pattern, here. The same thing happened in Germany during the ‘30s.

Not this Jew, I didn’t vote for Obama. I do not support Obama. I worry for the safety of Israel and what gives me comfort is the knowledge that G-d supports Israel, no matter what Obama believes.

I think it’s one of the enduring mysteries of the universe. It doesn’t make sense, yet it’s an undeniable fact.
I think in the end it boils down to the fact that people are idiots. As evidenced by all the scams like “you may already be a winner” (and many many more) that people consistently fall for.
The Republican Party is strongly pro-Israel. Hussein and the Democrats regularly throw Israel under the bus. Yet the Jewish people overwhelmingly vote Democrat. Go figure.
Is this a defective gene within the Jewish people, like Tay Sachs? In pre-war Europe, the Jewish people were so closely identified with socialism, that the Nazis could barely make a distinction between Bolshevism and Jewry.
I am NOT saying that the Jewish people brought the Holocaust upon themselves. What I am saying is that is not a good and healthy thing to be so closely aligned with radical left secular politics and sooooo distant from God. My advice to the Jewish people: Abandon the Left and reconnect with your faith. That would be a healthy choice and pleasing to God. Israel is too precious to be thrown to the wolves.
BTW—Most of the Orthodox Jews I know are very conservative. It is no accident that they are the most observant segement of the Jewish faith.

I seriously doubt that, the largest waves of Jewish immigration were in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Though you may have contempt for the victims, the majority of German Jews were able to get out of the country, and most who couldn't were unable because no nation would have them. I don't see how that's suicidal.

I am not sure that is true on multiple accounts.
1. Most US Jewish immigration was pre-war.
2. Jews fought back rather dramatically in Europe. The entire “march quietly to the death” is complete fiction. In Poland and much of Eastern Europe the real resistance had ample Jewish representation. The Warsaw Ghetto, for example, held out longer than the nation of France.
I am technically an American Jew (American parents), although I was born and raised in Israel (and will eventually return, as it is my real home).
I am a bit on the “outside” but I get the impression that American Jews like the idea of Israel, want to visit, but are not particularly connected to it.
