While serving in Afghanistan with the U.S. Army Reserve, Leon Batie Jr. dodged roadside bombs and scrambled to safety when rockets pierced the night sky.
When he returned to Dallas in early 2006, another battle loomed.
As Batie was returning from Afghanistan, he learned he was being stripped of the two Subway restaurants he bought before mobilizing.
The stores were sold to Subway insiders, with one transaction yielding a Subway executive a $100,000 profit, according to a lawsuit Batie filed last year in state court in Dallas County. One issue in the case is set for trial this week.

Supposed to help prevent undesirable things from happening to military personnel while deployed under orders. It was probably written / modified before franchises became so popular, though. Don't know what it says now.
Those are some of the most disturbing commercials out there today. I don’t eat there for the same reason. Guess I’ll start going to a local sub shop instead of Subway or Quiznos.
Subway is nothing but SALT.
If they did they thought wrong, dead wrong.
This has enormous potential for quickly growing formidable legs, watch 'n see.
I only care what they call me objectively as a violation of logic (and of vocabulary, in the “censorship” scenario). I don’t take it personally, except in that it might piss me off slightly, causing me to be that much more likely to give them the shaft (along with any other liberal I happen to see in the next 30 minutes).
I literally was standing in the parking lot of my restaurant with arguing with a subway rep in the middle of a snowstorm.
I had my right hand in his face cursing him and my left hand in my pants pocket wrapped around a smith and wesson bodyguard 38 snubby.
I told the man never to return if he valued his life...he never did while I was there.
My employees were watching me through the window wondering how long it would be before I blew his brains out.
You can only push a man so far before he pushes back.
Major medical expenses after eating at Subway or Queerznos?
HA!!!
I like the way you think, chock full of horse sense.
HTH I've managed to miss such a decent person here, all these years is the story of my life, I swear. LOL
Headline should read: Shopowner fails to pay rent, loses stores.
With business names like OPM Ventures (Other People’s Money) and the Dalton Gang they are going to get their buns toasted in court.
What was the immediate cause of the confrontation? Sounds like it must have been a doozy (or maybe just the final straw upon the overloaded camel).
Thag you. Thag you vurry much. ;-) Same to you, bud.
True-true.
Glad everything turned out your way, and it did go your way.
Hoping you found a niche somewhere, either for yourself or for someone else, as long as you're with honest people.
Ironically the Subway slime-balls? They had a hand in your knowing what creeps look/sound/act like; since, you were schooled by the best crooks in the business when you inadvertently tangled with Subway, eh?
“Batie sued under the Servicemembers act. The law bars anyone from terminating an active-duty service member's installment contract, including leases, without a court order.”
Unless you are a service member. Subway terminated his lease without a court order. I expect they will have to pay him big money.
Perhap[s. . .but I can’t get over the awful sounding commercial with the dancing rats in it.
No Quiznos for me, or Subway.
Does the Soldier’s and Sailor’s Relief Act come into play in this?

“Nifongville” = Durham, North Carolina, home of disgraced former DA Mike Nifong, of Duke lacrosse case fame.
I have several other slang names for this town, none of which I can repeat in polite company. :)

I'm beginning to think so after hearing a few praise Obama. They don't believe in producing a better product, just profit by manipulation and deceit. I don't think I want an MBA anymore.
