Unless you are a service member. Subway terminated his lease without a court order. I expect they will have to pay him big money.

I wonder if the law covers business leases as well as apartment leases.

Also, it's quite likely the lease was to a corporation and not Batie himself. There may actually be multiple corporations involved. It's common to have a corporation per store, in turn owned by the franchisee, which is its own corporation. This is done to contain liability issues that may arise at individual stores.
