If I remember correctly, the Flying Tigers (US pilots) went to China pre-WWII to help the Chinese combat the Japanese. I don't remember ever hearing the Chinese thank them for doing that. actually, that would have been ok, the chinese were totally excluded from coming by law. they did not get the chance to be mistreated like your grandparents.
