Somebody mentioned above that HuffPo runs FundRace which gets a lot of hits from people trying to determine who are funding candidates (is that right) and may skew their numbers quite a bit..

As to not watching closely, it’s true I certainly do not spend hours/day here reading every string (in fact it’s impossible to track 300,000 people - so neither do you!), but in my experience there are good exchanges of ideas and generally encouragement for conservatives. Also, many links and much information, as people read the background articles and blogs.

Five of your last eight posts repeat this mantra. You really are on a tear here. FR kooks are the ‘real’ reason that Republicans are losing elections? It’s not ignorance and apathy generally or not teaching our kids well? Or running RINO candidates that split the party’s conservative base? Or party leadership that does so (seemingly unwittingly?) It’s not the statists or the statist media that control the mass market political message to the independents and lefties? It’s not corruption at the most basic levels, with hundreds of thousands of ‘votes’ and ‘voters’ appearing out of thin air in pivotal battleground states?

No, I’m for the very purpose that Free Republic was founded. Those purposes did not include degenerating into a chat room for folks that just can’t resist adding adolescent attempted humor to every serious thread. Please do some research on several threads and report back the percentage of posts that were thoughtful responses that either supported, disputed or added information relative to the subject matter as versus attempted humor without substance.

Jim, if we all agreed to donate a buck to the next Freepathon for every post that's been made predicting the demise of FreeRepublic in the past six months, the FReepathon would be over with in two weeks.
Maybe we should have an "archive" thread for all these doomsayers so it could all be found in one place.
I'm against vulgarity on its face - but it is a problem in society and really an issue of personal character, in my view. That is beyond the scope of this board, however peer pressure can help. My mom always used to say, ‘When people curse or are vulgar it's because they can't or won't figure out a more intelligent way to say things.’
I'm not against humor, however, or what you might consider to be inane posts. When confronted with an onslaught of socialism, sometimes humor can help you keep perspective and encourage you to keep your hand on the plow.
"Truthers" present numerous things that are undeniably true facts, but that does not necessarily mean that their analysis is the correct analysis. Facts are useful things, but overreaching in your analysis can limit your ability to present your ideas in a good light. Don't try to supress facts, just because they May lead where you don't want to go; just be glad to have them, and save them until they come together to form the true picture.
